Merlin agrees with you, Common Nighthawk
Yes, in my research the white bars visible on the wing (near the end of its body) would not be there on a Whippoorwill also we have seen Nighthawks there before. North central Ohio is not a place you normally see Whippoorwills.

The over enthusiastic crowds at Magee Marsh are very interesting, I think its good to see it at least they are not on their couch. One year on a trail nearby a lady swore we were looking at a "cat" in a far off tree, it was in fact an owl :ROFLMAO:. For me even my "bad" photos help my wife and I properly identify what we see.

I'm putting this in my thread as it is a cellphone shot, I feel the need to share it. I guess photographing trains is addictive

I was excited yesterday while doing the York PA rail trail they had No17 out on a run. This is reported to be the newest steam locomotive in the world. It was built in 2013 using blueprints of the Union Pacific #119. Its an incredible experience to see this train on this line, the building above the passenger cars (on the right) is the Hanover Junction restored train station. It was here that president Abraham Lincoln changed trains to get to Gettysburg in November 1863 to give his immortal "few words" to dedicate the cemetery there. Pulled by an engine very much like this one.
