Yes, in my research the white bars visible on the wing (near the end of its body) would not be there on a Whippoorwill also we have seen Nighthawks there before. North central Ohio is not a place you normally see Whippoorwills.
The over enthusiastic crowds at Magee Marsh are very interesting, I think its good to see it at least they are not on their couch. One year on a trail nearby a lady swore we were looking at a "cat" in a far off tree, it was in fact an owl

. For me even my "bad" photos help my wife and I properly identify what we see.
