Very first shots with this lens. The deer were using a 1.4 TC-III, the squirrel the straight lens. Shot on my D500 body.

Something a bit different. I live on a street with a cul de sac and tonight an EMT vehicle and firetruck were down the street from me. It's been a while since I shot out of focus colored lights, so I had a go with the 200-500. SOOC. Guess how many blades the lens has...:)

Here is a 1:1 crop (is that the same as 100% crop? It matches 1:1 in lightroom) SOOC, just imported into lightroom and then exported longest edge 1000pixels, 72ppi.
No sharpening or post processing has been done.

I was trying to photograph some bees in my garden this afternoon but they all must have been camera shy, so I snapped this poppy instead.

I was just experimenting with different apertures etc. on this collared dove whilst I was waiting for something more interesting to show up.

At f/11 from this shot:

One of my next door neighbours semi feral cats. This one's pregnant so there'll be even more of them soon, no wonder I don't get many birds in the garden.

Elliot87, I think you're selling lenses for Nikon!! These are some really sharp shots!

Thank you WM, maybe you could put a word in for me with Nikon, they might like to send me a D500 to see if I could sell that for them too ;)

Seriously though this lens sells itself. The best thing about owning it is I can't wait to go out and take more pictures with it.

...Seriously though this lens sells itself. ...

I can't agree more. I was at a B&M in Orlando a few weeks ago to get some items to repair a tripod, and while I'm waiting for them to find the parts for me, a salesman hands me a D750 with the 200-500 attached and said something like "Here, take this, and let's go outside and try it out." I went back two weeks later and got the D750, and I'm looking to possible go back for the lens later this year. My only issue is that I've been looking at getting either a 500mm or 600mm f/4 for the extra speed it affords. I know it's only one stop, but sometimes I need that stop.

However, the fact that I'm even looking at this f/5.6 lens says a lot about how it handles on the front of a camera and the images it can produce!

If you show up at the M7G in February, I'll let you use mine for an hour or so. I offered it to Kevin H the last time but he refused . I think he was scared that if he used it he would have to go and buy one.:)
