Day 152
My wife needed a photo for her knitting blog, so as the weather was great the whole family ventured outside. I tried to apply fill flash, but as I hadn't thought of it before we had left home, I had to do with the camera flash. Better than nothing, I guess. I have ordered a flash hot shoe extension cable, which I guess would have been perfect for a situation like this :)

...also, as we were strolling along, we suddly heard jazz. It got steadily louder untill this guy came riding down the road :D

SO many threads to follow, I forget to check more than what's on the "new posts" list sometimes.... finally catching up here.

Very sorry to hear about your grandmother, but sounds like y'all are at peace with the passing. Praying that you all spend time together laughing about all the good times even in your time of loss.

Also, love the picture of your buddy in armor! Although it's a rather funny thought to try and lead the viewer to think there were cameras back in the medieval days, I'd love to see what could be done with this pic in a retro/antique/grainy sort of way. Maybe add a bit of grit to it?

Thanks Pretzel :)
Fortunately we are all able to remember her for all the good things she were. She was a unique woman, but a very kind one :) When she talked about what she wanted when she was gone, she always said that her funeral aws supposed to be a good day, where people sad down with a beer and talked about the good times they had with her. I think that was exactly what happened :)

And thanks for the comment as well :)
I think you are right, that the picture could be a lot more gritty. I just don't have a lot of experience with that look, so maybe I should work a little on producing that :)
One problem with trying to make it appear like a contemporary image would e that the actual art of 14 century Scandinavia isn't, well, very photorealistic at all ;)

Having said that, I think I will follow your idea and try to rough it up a bit

I don't know if this is what I would call 'gritty', but i've tried to make it look older, and I actually like the feeling it has brought out

If you had something else in mind, I will happily take more speciffic advise :)

NICE! This gives SO MUCH MORE impact to the pic! Maybe just a little extra grain, but that's just me toying now... mind if I give it a go when I get home, see what happens? REALLY DIGGING the change in the look/feel of the pic, though! Well done!!

Good advice from Pretzel! I like colour usually but he's right this suits the photo perfectly.
I don't know maybe its my computer screen but his face seems a bit dark. I'm looking forward to you guys playing with this photo and seeing what you come up with :)

By all means, please do! :)
I owe the improvements to good advise. @snaphappy, you could very well be right about the face. On my PC monitors it looks just about right, but on my phone, which I suspect is more 'true' in its representation it does indeed look a bit on the dark side. I think I'll lighten it up a bit :)
