Well my new SSD arrived today and you know the best thing I love about my Mac's! Its called Internet recovery. Where you hold the 'Option' key down and it connects to your network and you install the operating system. No need for discs etc...

That's pretty cool. I had my tech guys put a 128GB SSD in my Windows desktop last year while they were replacing a crashed disk. My PC screams now.

Welcome to the Cloudy World! Though it does not have anything to do with your disk being SSD or HDD, really...It's just that the reserve copy of your op system is kept on the cloud server, so your system is reinstalled from there, when it's needed;).

There are three commands. The first beginning with "sudo cp", then the "sudo perl" specific to your version of OS X, then "sudo touch". Make sure you get the entire line and reboot.

It seems lines are missing, so I am presuming I just copy and run the one for my OSX

The block where the instructions are Scott will scroll to the right, just click hold and move your mouse to the right. I assume that's what you are referring to when said lines are missing.

going to bookmark these just case I make the move. Thanks @Eduard

Reboot and then run "About This Mac", "More Info", "System Report" then look at the "SATA/SATA Express" section. Select your SSD (if you have more than one drive) and look at the "Trim Support" setting. It should now be "Yes". See this screen snip:

That's awesome Scott. I'm just now joining the SSD crowd as well. Installed a 500GB Samsung in one system and a 1TB Samsung in another.

I think we are all going SSD mad. I just fitted a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB to my Mac mini server. Removed one of the drives and replaced it with the SSD and then setup as a Fusion Drive. Excellent speed with it so far. I used Trim Enabler to setup the Trim function.

Currently looking at a new drive for my wife's "wonderful" Mac. It did the all too common Mac book 1.5-2 year old hard drive crash.
