My official "Hello!"

I knew I was forgetting something. lurking and posting here and there, and I never quite introduced myself. So here goes...

My name is Joe and I am 33 years old, from the Buffalo, NY/Niagara Falls area. My first love is my family. 2nd and 3rd place are a tie between photography, and cars (currently restoring a 1957 Chevy BelAir handed down by my dad who owned it for 40+ years). I only wish I had time for it all. I have been into photography since I could even remember. Always loved it. I dabble in it all, but mostly do portraiture.

If you have time, feel free to visit my website. It is very new (only a couple months), and I have a long way to go with it, and I am still adding and removing things. You can read more about me there. feedback is always welcome too. good or bad, I can take it. Im a big boy :) www.joelewisphoto.com

If thats not your thing, you can check me out on facebook too @ www.facebook.com/joelewisphoto , become a fan and suggest to your friends. I try and update it frequently.

oh, and my equipment isn't much, but it is as follows... Nikon D300s, gripped. Nikon 18-105mm D90 kit lens (upgrading soon if anyone is interested), Nikon 50mm 1.4, Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon SB-600 flash (also upgrading soon should someone be interested), Gary Fong collapsable lightsphere and some old clunky tripod (it does the job)...i think that about sums it up.

With all of that, i say Hello, and thanks for reading!

Oh Joe, how do you like your new D300s?
Right now I am using a D200 & a D80, was thinking of upgrading at some point to a D7000, but I now thinking more of the D300s sometime in the future. Wanted to get your feedback on the D300s :).

Thanks Curt!

I too thought about the D7k, or the D300s. I chose this one for lots of little reasons, like faster FPS and weatherproofing....plus i love the feel of it and like how the qual, wb and iso controls are at my fingertips now (same as your 200)...as for functionality, so far its been stellar....though to be honest, i just got it about a week ago so i haven't really put it through its paces yet due to the weather here. I am really glad i chose it though, and have zero regrets.....from all the research i have done...it is one of nikons greatest creations....how can you go wrong with that?

Thanks Joe for info. I have a friend that has a D700 (beautiful camera) and I thought about it, but I have to much DX glass.
Plus the cost...lol. Maybe in the future I will look at the D300s, it has a lot of the D700 features. If you don't mind keeping me up to date on how you are enjoying the D300s, would love to hear how its performing.

yeah, the D700 was a thought also...a quick thought...for the same reasons...way too much to upgrade right now. maybe in another year or 2. I will definitely keep you up to date on the D300s though.

Let me tell ya.....if I had the money, I would buy a D300s! Awesome camera! I'd still keep my D200, but I would LOVE to own a D300s. I don't need video, and like you said, Joe, all the controls are right there at your fingertips, just like the D200. Welcome to the forums, by the way. lol :)

ps: I used to own a '57 Bel Air many moons ago, back in Montreal, where I'm originally from. My dad had a '55 Chevy Bel Air.

Welcome, Joe. You can consider this my 'official' hello to you as well :)

D300s is a good looking camera. I was just debating D7000 vs D300s with my father, as he is likely going to buy one shortly. He's still using his D2x, D80 and D100!

He chose the D7000, but that was mainly because he is keeping his D2X, and replacing his D80.
