I have tons of issues with this site and IE, such as not formatting my messages correctly, not being able to thank anyone, etc. Firefox works like a charm.

When I had a D3100 I sold it with the kit lens to help fund the D7100...Just a thought...
IE also works poorly for me. Same slow typing problem.

As to the topic. Having both, one does not replace the other. Each has it's benefits. On full frame I need a monster zoom to get to where the D7100 takes me because of the crop sensor. When I need wide or low light then the D600 is the tool.
Cropping down on the D600 to get that same zoom factor doesn't work because the fall off of megapixels is pretty serious compared to the DX. Sure DX is just cropping down to use just the center portion of the lens, but that cropped DX area has 24 megapixels to work with where by comparison, cropping down on the D600 image is only giving me about 9.6 megapixels to work with when cropped to the DX zoom of a crop sensor.
My point is, each camera is a different tool and I wouldn't give up one for the other. If comparing the D800 and it's 36 megapixels, which gives plenty to crop down to, I could then give up my D7100.
The caveat to this is if you don't print. You don't need squat megapixels for web pictures. To which i'm sure shootraw is printing.

I opted to add the D800 to my existing D7100 back in December. Yes, more expensive but the focusing is closer to the D7100 and it has other "pro" features I felt the D600/D610 lacked. I actually still use the D7100 a lot. There are certain situations where it is the better choice for me.
That's cool...But one day my d610 will be my back-up to another fx camera.. So no need for the D7100... besides I have gotten use to the fx focal length...Not having to back way up is great...Also having a true DOF is nice..My 1.4 is a true 1.4...vs a 2.1 aperture on dx...

FOV changes due to the crop factor. DOF for a given focal length is actually greater on FX than it is on DX. People get really confused about this because camera companies use the term "equivalent focal length". Focal length of a lens is fixed no matter what sensor is behind it.That's cool...But one day my d610 will be my back-up to another fx camera..

That's what I meant..FOV...Don't know why I put focal length..But you knew what I meant..lol
You have to multiply your aperture by the 1.5 crop factor as well..Just like you do for the FOV... So a 1.4 is not a true aperture on dx because of the crop factor...This is why the bokeh and DOF is slightly better on FX...Most people do not get that when throwing on fx lens onto their dx bodies.. I used the wrong lingo about the FOV earlier and said focal length..But you guy's knew what I meant..
Are you saying that my 50mm f/1.8 on my DX is like a 50mm f/1.2 on an FX?
