Monthly challenge exif data

Where do you look to find the EXIF info when a photo appears in a thread? I've tried hovering over a photo, clicking on it, and/or opening the photo in a new window, but I still can't find anything.

The two photos Don posted appear identical with nothing extra showing up for me anywhere. I asked this question in another thread, but it hasn't been answered. Please...any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!! :)

Not sure how any one else does it but I right-click, Save As and open the file in a photo-viewer that allows me to read EXIF data. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you need to be able to open the actual file itself to be able to access the EXIF data.

I use IRFanview for this, personally, but I'm sure there are a lot of apps that do the same thing.

Using IRFanview you would open the file, then on the menu-bar at the top click on "Image", "Information" and then the "EXIF Info" button.

There is a much easier and faster way. I use Firefox and I had an ADD-on called "FXiF" When I right click on a photo I get the standard list of options like View, copy Etc. But not there is 1 extra option called FXiF Data. I click on it and up pops the data I am looking for , Not sure in any other browser but I am sure they would have something like this. Just search addons or extensions for EXIF

Thank you for the explanation. No wonder I couldn't figure it out as I've never used add-ons previously! I will look into this! :)

...everything that Don & Jake said...

Keep in mind thumbnails (images posted directly to posts) will not have exif data since a thumbnail is a resized pic of the original. After clicking on the pic to display full size, that one should have exif if it was under 1024 originally.

I would love to be able to automatically display exif data on image rollover a la dpreview but unfortunately there isn't a vbulletin plugin available and would require some custom work.
