Working with the different focusing systems in the D500 when the opportunity to photograph this beautiful friendly pitbull presented itself.

You were certainly coordinated to get composite shots and a wide angle of the proposal. Impressive work. I threw together a filter at the last minute. I was lucky it worked.

Thank you. I also shot a time-lapse at the same time as these other two so that I can show the day-night-day transition. That's coming but made up of 700 photos.

Picked up a new Tamron 90mm, the latest model, a generation 2 - but technically the 3rd version. The new stabilization is incredible, but second to the lightning fast focus. This lens does not hunt, it just seems to know where to go. Optical quality is better, it's really great. Compared to the first generation, never used the second model, it is a clear step up, but the first one was still really good. Here are some shots I did today on my D500 paired with the Tamron 90mm.

The lens does seem to underexpose by a 1/3 to 1/2 a stop - easily compensated for.

Who needs to wait for a blood moon when your state is on fire and you have so much smoke the overhead stars are choked out. Shot low on the horizon in the thickest smoke.

This shot is done without any solar filters. The smoke is this heavy here in northern Utah. Shot low on the horizon through the thickest smoke.

This different looking shot was actually quite dangerous. This was shot while carefully positioning myself so that the flower blotted out the sun. No damage to equipment or any lost eyeballs. The washout of the center area are beams of sunshine wrapping around.
