Day 39 - Quail?

Not sure what this bird is, but they are pretty. The wife and I spent some time on Antelope Island and we arrived at the right time as these little birds were scooting all around.

I believe that's a Chukar. A member of the Partridge family.

The closest I cam come to identifying that "quail" is indeed a Mountain Quail, however, the colors on the Audubon Society page doesn't quite look the same as yours but the stripes on its sides is almost identical.

I have no idea on the bird. Quail was my best guess.

Followed that link and I would say yes it is a Chukar.

Sometimes they are a stronger blue purple black, other times a light grayish. Don't know if its the animal or what they happen to be eating at the moment when this one looked up.

Day 40 - Snow Shoes

For our upcoming photography trip through Yellowstone. Picture actually turned out pretty good; came from my phone. Maybe I will just get rid of all this Nikon stuff and carry a phone. Hmmm....

Day 41 - Robin

Maybe its the coming spring, or the touch of warmer weather, but the birds were out chirping today. Unfortunately I couldn't get any shots on the little song birds as they were buried in the branches. However, this Robin was happy to sit up high and sing.
