May monthly challenge

who is going to step up to the plate and run the challenge for may?

It seems the listed moderators (marcel - stangman98 - dave w - don kuykendall) have lost interest in the challenge, or have moved on.

Not being a moderator doesn't have to stop the monthly challenge. I know a thread can't be started by others in the Monthly Challenge section, but why can't something like this be started for those who want to continue on? I am willing to count "likes" with someone else, so errors in counting could be eliminated.

How about this for May.

May 2015 Assignment: Flowers

This month's Assignment is mostly about the observation and capture of flowers. Real, fake or anything that looks like flowers and can be displayed using your creativity.

It can be B&W or color, as long as the image was captured with a Nikon camera between May 1st and 31st 2015.

Good luck to all and enjoy your Nikons.

Assignments are designed to help you grow your photography skills and creativity, and have fun doing so. Assignments are to make all of us photographers think outside the box also.

The Rules

  1. Any photo submitted for a monthly assignment must be taken during the month specified in the assignment thread and taken by you! Because not all EXIFdata can be verified, we will use the honor system.
  2. Photos must be posted to the thread in order to be considered for the challenge. Links to photos will not be considered an entry.
  3. Only three photo entries per member, for each assignment, unless otherwise indicated.
  4. Individual voting via post "likes" will be incorporated into the final selection of the winning photo.
  5. Judging criteria is based on the numbers of "Likes" that images will receive from the members of our Forum.
  6. The top 3 "liked" shots will be recognized at the end of the thread.

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Monthly Challenge, unless specifically noted by the site administrator.

Any photo taken with a Nikon will be accepted for the assignment. Edited/straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the assignment subject.

I'm not posting much lately, but still here almost daily and would gladly throw my hat in the ring to help count up votes or whatever is needed. Can't see any reason a forum like Nikonites; with so many good contributing members, can't keep a monthly contest alive.

I just threw this up as an example of what could be done, say in the General Photography section. The Theme can be anything, so if there is more interest, post some theme ideas here and thoughts and we will go with it. I guess if it is not favored, we can ask for forgiveness. I have gone with the idea that it is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is for permission. Ha!

Mike, I am ex-Army and was taught the same thing, but I was also taught to take charge when needed. Ha!

You might as well start it Walt. I can't promise anything, but if I have the time at the end of the month, I will help count likes.

The unofficial monthly assignment challenge has officially started here.
Submit your three images of your flower power choices. @nikonpup has the first entry of this months fun.
Let's just have some fun!!

I moved this thread into the monthly assignment sub-forum.

Thanks to cwgrizz for taking the initiative. Since other mods didn't take my help requests it's good to see other members involve themselves.

It's a pleasure to contribute. Now if we only could set-up a poll to determine the winners like the weekly challenge, things would be quite easier.

Thanks @Marcel for moving this. In the back of my mind, I was hoping that would happen. Ha! The "Voting Poll" at the end of the month would be nice, but for now I am happy to leave it with the "Like" system. It is just for fun and hopefully it won't have any conflicts. It's just for fun and gives some of us the extra incentive we need. Ha!

From the looks of things, it is off to a "Great" start.
