Roy, they're also called the Jesus Lizard since they can run across water on their hind legs.

Edit: just watched the video Steve provided. That's exactly how they do it!!

So, I decided I'd use the 18-200mm since I haven't been seeing any wildlife far away. Guess what - saw this hawk and it was far away.

Thanks Ron. Had to look up painterly, been seeing that word a few times around here.

All I did was take the shot at 35mm using my 18-200 and crop.

Well, that's all it took Marilynne. Taking a photo that looks like a painting can be quite effective. It was more popular in the ealy 20th Century till Ansel Adams came along, with his insistence on extra sharp images form foreground to infinity. I think that the "painterly effect" can add a dream like quality to a painting reminiscent of Impressionistic or Plein Air painters. I believe both schools of thought can produce great photos.
