Been resisting on commenting, as I'm playing MASSIVE catch up on this thread, but... once you see a couple or three of these, it's all over. They're like the rats of the sky! Fast breeding, all devouring, invasive things they are!!!

GREAT pics as usual! Really liked the vulture coming in for a landing pics with the "braking" wing action! Hoping to return to the southern bit of Florida again this year to see Dad again, so perhaps I'll get to head into the glades and catch some of those fun gator shots myself! *crosses fingers*

Thanks Wendy. I'm not good at judging distance. This bird island is somewhere between 30 - 50 feet away. The D7100 has the 1.3x option which gives my 55-300mm lens up to 600mm (according to the FXIF data) so no teleconverter is needed.
Thanks for the information. It is nice that you are able to get such great photos. I have a 55-300 too that I love, but I only have a 5100 to use it with.

I've only recently started seeing them, but they are listed in my FL Audubon book.

Thanks! I know your dad is way south of me, but you should be able to get to the Everglades down there also.

You're welcome. My backup camera is the D5100. Used my friends the other day and couldn't believe how light it is.

I want to take a moment to thank every one that has checked out my thread and all of my other posts. You pushed me over 20,000 likes! I've come a long way in the 1.5 years here. Couldn't have done it without everyone's help.

Thanks again!!!

Had a picnic lunch at the park with the remote controlled stuff. I had just finished eating when huge drops of rain started hitting the picnic table. We headed over to the air field which has the only cover in the park.

Missed the landing, but not the crash - white spots = the rain

That is a big RC Plain. I like the rain drops. It adds a little something extra to the photo.

Thanks Don. Some of the guys were flying in all that wetness. It even hailed for about 5 seconds at one point. They were about the size of peas and hurt when it hit me in the shoulder. Wasn't expecting it at all.

Only got to see one R/C vessel and then it started to rain again. I put my D7100 under my shirt and ran for cover, like that was gonna keep it dry under a cotton t-shirt.

We got a little wet on our bike ride home. We managed to make it to shelter at a shopping center. After a half hour waiting it out, we spotted this weird rainbow.

Untouched

Spotted a bunch of vultures, both black and turkey, in the trees at a park.
