After the awards, we pedaled down to the rim canal.

Chris and the gator just before the ranger yelled at him.

There's a steep incline between the parking lot and the rim canal. On the way back I didn't make it all the way up. I went to put my foot on the ground and there was no ground so I went tumbling down the incline and so did my bike. The camera in the basket didn't help, but the camera survived. I scraped both knees and palms and my right shoulder. My left forearm hurts if I try to straighten it and I can't lift my right arm very far.

I did manage to shoot this Great Rimmed Owlet and papa afterwards.

Camera still works and we pedaled home (about 10 miles)!!

My doc wasn't in so we spent 4 hours at the emergency room. After x-rays and a cat scan, it was decided that I broke/fractured my left elbow. Chris wasn't in the room when the doctor came in. When I asked the nurse if was broken or fractured she sent the doc back in. He said "broken, fractured, busted - all the same thing". My arm was wrapped in a couple of ace bandages and I have to call an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that. I was lucky that when I fell I just tore my rotator cuff. No surgery, just rehab. The most important thing was I figured out how to shoot without hurting it more.

Hope you get better soon. This does not get you out of shooting and posting though.

OUCH! I broke my left arm 5 different times....... fell off a porch, fell off a garage, fell off my bike, high school football, and high school wrestling. Hmmm.... I wasn't doing drugs then.

Casts suck. I hope you heal quickly. Best wishes.

Wow I am glad to hear you are going to be okay, you took quite a tumble. I wish you a speedy recovery. Thankfully nothing else was broken.

Ouch, just take it easy and get better will ya. Only time heals, but surgeons can help too when they're good.

Hope they don't have to do too much surgery for you.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks everyone for your get well wishes. The ER doc said I didn't need surgery. The funny part is, my left arm doesn't hurt, just can't straighten it, but my right shoulder is killing me!!

I'm right handed, but left moused, so besides the hunt and pecking, I'm having mouse difficulties!
