When I first got my Trek Pure LoStep, I made what Chris calls a "doily" so my basket wouldn't be laying up against the paint. Last week I took the basket off when I got the flat tire so I could transport the bike without the basket flying in the breeze. I also took off the "doily" so I could wash it. Boy was I surprised to see the paint had worn off even with my four ply "doily". Chris made a bracket to hold the basket off the post. It worked great until I put the camera in the basket, so now he's coming up with plan b, whatever that is.

Anyway, here's the turned bracket he made with my "doily".

Maybe leather wrapped like they do with golf clubs/tennis rackets?

Thanks for the suggestion, but he's a woodworker, so it has to be made out of wood. I suggested clear plastic or some scrap material I have left over for under the "doily" and got hiss booed.

Came across this Osprey during today's bike ride.

This was across the street and then some.

A little closer

Still closer - he's letting me know I'm to close

but that didn't stop me. Now I'm under the pole.

Thanks Alan. I've seen a lot of them this year on light poles, but they spook real easy when you get near them. This one didn't spook until I got right under the pole. First he flapped those wings and when I didn't back off, he took off. Guess he didn't want to share that fish with me.
