Marilynne, that is a great sky! I could use one like that in a lot of my photos!

Marilynne, your photo led me to look up the specifics for Cosmos online. It is an interesting plant, especially the part of it nearly thriving on neglect. I believe that I've seen them growing in the wild around here.

Is the photo of one of yours, or is it otherwise. And is the second photo edited, other than a crop?

Wayne

Yes, it's in my front yard. Chris gave me the flower pot before we got married 46 years ago. Finally found something to put in it. I do nothing to it. The only water it gets is from the rain. Some were also growing in the mulch, but the lawn service sprayed to kill the weeds and nailed them also. The first bunch of flowers had more colors. This batch only seems to have orange.

The second shot was sharpened and cropped. That's it.

Well, I like the photo and I like the plant, too. Did you purchase as seeds or as a plant? I may try to grow some next year.

As far as weed spray, I feel your pain. My son got a bare-root Bald Cypress tree at school one year in conjunction with Arbor Day. We potted it and it thrived for about two years, when we transplanted it to a low spot in our back yard, where it did quite well for about three years until the golf course maintainers sprayed it with herbicide and killed it.!!!

A friend gave me seeds. I planted them in the pot, after the flowers went to seed, it seeded in the mulch and grew. Was pretty for a while.

Got some shots of this gator on my way into Loxahatchee with my cell phone. It was on the grass on the right side of the road.

This shot was pretty far away.

Gator moved some. Got there at the same time as the ranger. He got out of his vehicle, I didn't. Look close, this 6 foot gator only has three legs.
