Chris spotted this Cuban Lizard run in the grass to avoid a car. I had trouble finding it.

This really should be posted in the almost thread, but thought I would post here.

I was shooting the anhinga (post #1386), when momma and two TriColor Herons landed next to me. Way to close for a decent shot. The juvie was just as startled as I was.

I saw a juvie hawk fly from the tree to the ground below in the tall grass. Waited for it to fly back up or come out from the grass, but it never did. I was talking with another Nikon user and she spotted this one in the tree when she walked about ten feet to the left. I never did see it. She took a shot. After looking at her shot, I knew where to point. This is the highly cropped result...

Not sure why this came out B/W. Anyway, got home from a 17 mile bike ride and the grandson was washing/waxing his vehicle. Had the Tamzooka on and had to go across the street and then some. So this is two shots, handheld.

Well, that B/W thing bothered me. I took some test shots and they were B/W also. Checked shooting menu and WB was not active. Picture Control was set to monochrome and wouldn't let me change it. I was getting settings I don't ever recall seeing and I was able to get color when I switched to HI from LO. Something was still not right. Anyway, it turned out that somehow my release mode dial got switched to EFFECTS. I never move that off A and the lock release button needs to be pressed so I don't know how that happened. All is right in my world now.
