November 2nd, Cold and grey around here today. Line got around to remove the left plants in the garden and made her last wild flowers bouquet. Had to get a shot with the D700, filtered the hell out of it for mood effect. I'll see if I can shoot some more after I get the 180 2.8 this afternoon.

I got to the store and never got out of the car. I decided I didn't need the 180. So I did a few shots with the Rokinon (Samyang) 85 1.4.

Didn't have much time to shoot today, but thanks to Line's bouquet I can still catch a shot here and there. Fading flowers change every day and can keep me busy during this weird fall season.

Nothing spectacular on this November 4th. I did manage to take my work (old PC) computer downstairs with all my paperwork and cleaned my Mac that does photo processing. It had been a very long time since I had seen that my desktop is actually wood. I thought it was only papers for a long long time.

Oh yes, I also know that feeling!

OK, I gave up and bought the 180 2.8.

This is the first picture I took with it in the pawn shop to try it out. It's sharp as a knife and has very nice bokeh as well as much lighter than the 70-200 2.8.

Now I only have to wait for the right light for it.

November 7th, I manage to take the 180 out with the D700. Here are a few pics and a 100% crop. This is a sharp lens and I don't regret it whatsoever.

Cut it out, Marcel!!! You're making me want one of these lenses! Too bad there isn't an 'envy' smiley because I'd use it! ;)

How would you say it compares against the 70-200mm f/2.8 at that focal length? I know the 180mm is a lighter weight lens, but in its sharpness and contrast, how would you say it is in comparison to the 70-200mm? About the same?

It's either better or at par with the 70-200. But it doesn't have VR so that is a minus, but I think the 180 is better for contrast and sharpness but I haven't used it enough to cast a fair judgment yet. Future will tell.

This 180 2.8 is a real surprise for me. I never thought a lens could be so sharp. Here is a color version of my second entry in the B&W square Assignment. Oh, I forgot to add that the bokeh is a little weird on this because I was shooting through a fence.
