January 31st will end as it started, with a cat picture.

But first, just a shadow in the snow that I was planning to use to promote the February Assignment (but I later choose other pics).

And now guess what, the cat trying to sleep in the sun.

two different light and shadow shots I might use in the monthly Assignment.

Illusion of 2 light sources but only done in full sunlight.

February 6th. Withstanding the MINUS 28 C, I stopped by the river in North Hatley to take a few shots. I might have gotten lucky with my freezing fingers.

February 10th, I came back from a super nice ski day and only had time to take this picture of the sunset through my front frosted window.

Marcel, I hope you're not complaining about the weather.

Half of Montreal lives in my neighborhood.

Why are they so much smarter than you?

Hell, je suis starting to pick up a French accent.

Not sure I'm not as smart as other snowbirds. But I have other reasons that prevent me from spending 4 or 5 months down there. First, I enjoy skiing very much and I'm not too old for waterski which I used to love. And I'm still working part time and my loved one is still working full-time... Then my mom is getting older and since my sister is down your way for the whole winter, guess who takes her to the doctor and dentist?

So maybe later for a few months, we'll see.

Now don't get too many sunburns will ya. :)

Oh thanks. It might not show, but this one got quite a bit of dodging and burning in. But the light was basically there.

Marcel,

I was under the impression that it had no PP. Doesn't matter in the end, as it is a wonderful shot!

And you are totally welcome to attend the next Sunshine State Nikonites get together down this way. We're already discussing another trip to the Circle B Bar Ranch Nature Reserve, which we'll likely have next year in the late winter or early spring.

Just a cat portrait this morning as it is too cold for me to go outside and play with the Df.

Nice! Really, really liking that delta foxtrot you have there @Marcel !!
Yes I do like it and I'm not missing Mega Pixels at all. I find it's just the right resolution for quick and fast processing and it's a bit more forgiving with less than stellar lenses like the Tamron 28-200 I used for these shots. Also notice the IQ for iso 2500 on the second shot :)

I didn't notice the ISO on this shot, but I did notice it on your chess shot, and was going to say something along the lines of... "wow!!.. Really? ISO 2500?"
