Looking for free non-photography website

I'd like to set up a free website for my neighborhood watch but have no clue which freebie sites are good. I created a Google web site only to have Google disable it. I tried linking local news articles on the main page, but apparently they don't allow links from other urls to be used. :( In any case, what free sites can you recommend? I'm hoping to find something that will allow multiple pages. There might possibly be photos added to pages, too, but the main reason is to list neighborhood watch news items and to link local stories.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Seems like everyone and everything is heading to Facebook. There is something I have heard of that is a blog site, I think it's called word press, never looked into so can't speak to it.

WordPress is pretty good. Tons of themes which you can customize and a lot are free. I'm actually using it to make an online journal for myself.

I suggest wordpress, I use it too. Got a website as well but gave it up cos word press is so easy to use and to keep updated.

A group page on Facebook is really the way to go. You can make it private and only members can see the posts or post on the page. It is really the easiest way to go for what you want to do. That and most everyone is already on Facebook so they are checking into it every day. No additional site they have to go to to see what it there.

Thanks for the comments! :) I will look into Word Press.

I should have mentioned my neighborhood watch already has a secret Facebook page, but not everyone in our neighborhood wants to be on FB. With a public web site, the pertinent info can be publicly posted. The Facebook page is secret so the only way people can access the info is if they are added to the group by a FB friend. Supposedly it will help keep out the riff-raff. ;)
