I have a project that is due soon and it is asking for sidelighting of about 90 degree to emphasise surface texture. I was wondering if you could help me out on whether this would work or not.

Any help or ideas on what I could use if this isnt exactly what I need is greatly appreciated.
Thank you all so much!

I remember doing a project like this for a class.

You have too much in your frame. If you're going to fill the frame, make it something like a wall of stone or old wooden shingles...something with a repeating pattern that also shows texture:

I think your lettuce is a bit overexposed, or the light source is too close. In keeping with the above suggestion, try just a single piece of lettuce against a black background. It will have much more impact.

Thank you so much for the tip I will sure try to find something of the sort, or more ruffage with a good texture and not so much exposure.

Maybe try a macro shot? A close-up of part of one of those leaves with some shadows might work.
