Lightroom 6 Will Be Sold As Stand Alone Again

Use to get this with my old computer, with only 2Gb of memory,

now with a new motherboard, cpu and 16GB of memory, its a lot better.

I still didn't switch my processing to the Mac. It should be faster on that one but I'm waiting on a second monitor. The screen is that small compared to what I'm used that working on it is depressing.

I have no issues in LR. I can use the sliders with either arrows, dragging or entering values.
Sure it is not as complex as PS but for normal photo editing it is fine, you can even do layers and graduated filters easily.

I use Lr5 and love it. Maybe because a use a Wacom instead a mouse. With the pen it is easy to use the sliders;) Lr6 let bring it in :) can't wait

If there's a new release of lightroom, I hope the same is true for PS. I think I'll upgrade it and get PS for Mac. LR costs next to nothing compared to PS.

I'm on the PS/LR monthly plan, so I should just get the update when it's ready.
I never thought that I would like the CC but now I love it!

When I first signed up for CC I still intended to buy PS CS6, but it is still about $1500 to buy. I can use CC at $10/mnth for 10yrs @ $1200....why would you buy then? in 10yrs PS CS6 is going to be well obsolete. This is of course assuming CC will allow us to continue at $10/mnth past the 12mnth initial sign up

I'd buy it to not be hooked to the web but if you're a photographer here or anyone else professionally using it, buying PS is a tax deductible expense and for that 1500$ is better than 10$/m.

When a new version comes out, you sell the old and your serial and put the money into your pocket without taxes knowing or caring. It's those little things combined that make your wallet grow fat.

How are you hooked to the web? You download and install the apps directly on to two computers. Here are the connectivity requirements directly quoted from Adobe:

An Internet connection is required the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days.

Annual members can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode.

As far as business expense goes, I'd rather have Operating Expenditures (monthly charge) than Capital Expenditures (traditional purchase and license). Operating expenses are fully deducted in the accounting period during which they were incurred.

I mentioned it before; if all goes as planned I'll start road-tripping in the near future and will be without a connection for considerable periods of time. The logical decision is to buy a standalone and be fully independent at this level.

Sorry, missed that. I've seen other photographers who have been able to contact Adobe and get them to extend or wave the connection requirements on a case-by-case basis. If I can find the link, I'll PM you. Good luck!!

Myth #2: “I don’t want to be constantly connected to the Internet to start and run my creative apps; what happens when I’m on a plane?”

You do not have to be continually connected to the Internet. After the CC applications are installed and running on your desktop, online access is only required once every 4 months for revalidation of your annual membership. Plus there are solutions in place if you’ll be offline for an extended period – like traveling for six months without web access… just contact Customer Service.

I'll just point out some people already have an opinion about Creative Cloud and don't want to be confused by facts.

Thanks but that still won't do. When I hit the road, I don't even have a home to return to. I'll be completely off the grid; no bank, no cards, no nothing.

Others might benefit of it but I'm that strange duck.

I agree....I use a laptop and the sliders are tough to get a precise adjustment. No doubt they could make the sliders a bit wider.

Chris,

Whilst I agree that the sliders are somewhat difficult to move with precise accuracy, where an adjustment of a few points is required the numerical entry area to the right of the slider permits decimal place accuracy.

I'm pretty new to both Lightroom and Paintshop Pro so I have a leaning toward getting as much done in Lightroom that I can before taking the leap into PP, however, I am finding myself taking it to PP more and more lately.
