Day 146

Had my Casio Exilim P and S with me and while waiting to be collected after being discharged noticed this bit of art work outside the front door of the hospital. Each hand seems to be a different mould.

Day 147

I was not in the mood to take photos on this day! Snapped a flower and that was it.

Outside front door LOL.jpg

I will add the rest of the days later tonight and tomorrow.

Day 148

While convalescing I had a visitor from an old friend. My daughter got "Pocket" about 7 years ago and had her for about 10 months before deciding that it was too much of a responsibility for her at age 19 and so passed her on to a friend. Pocket has not grown an inch since I last saw her and will still not sit still - far too excited to be around people.

Day 149

I went for a long walk today around an estuary (7.8 kms and probably overdoing it)
Camera in hand but never really got what ever it was I was hoping to find.

Day 150

And this should be May done and dusted! 5 out of 12 - not bad

Called in at the golf club and sat in the cart for 9 holes on a glorious day.

I saw this natural "chandelier" hanging from one of the pine trees.

And thought the following was a cool sight. Pity the bird is out of focus.

Took a few other shots of some really ugly golf swings! Will save them for the poor perpetrators to view on FaceBook

I really like this shot. How does it look with that distracting bush to the left of the frame cropped out? Those trees are really interesting and full of character :D

Hi Vixen - yes I considered that but lopping off the tops of the trees didn't look good. Very interesting trunks though and it was definitely an eye catching group of trees.

Day 151

Went for a drive to Gulf Harbour - a luxury marina, apartments and golf course area that hasn't really taken off because of the locality and accessibility.

Some of the Apartments.

The Marina where the wealthy peeps park their houses!
Also a lot of boat repairs go on here.

For some reason these dark type photos look far lighter in camera than they do when uploaded. I have no idea why as the histogram looks ok to me.

Day 152

The irony of life …
On this day I probably spent more time on photography than any other in the 2 weeks I was away but took only 2 photos!
Auckland Museum had the Nat Geo Wildlife Photographer of the Year winning photos up - 100 of them.
I spent a delightful afternoon viewing them and came out thinking it was time to sell the camera! :D

Just a seagull LOL.jpg

Sorry folks but that was all I took on this inspiring day.

Day 153

Took a walk on the beach and tried a heap of stuff for quite a while in low lighting. Had fun but didn't get any good ones.
The first is a table and chairs in the setting sun. I parked my car right there and liked the way the sun highlighted the setting.

Day's end LOL.jpg

The next is a set of steps leading from a private residence above the cliffs down to the beach. I liked the indent in the cliff next to the steps.
I guess there must have been a lot of work in building these steep steps.
Its a bit of an attempt at HDR using three images.

I seem to have my day's numbering all wrong so reverting to dates!

This is a South African native as far as I know and the leaves are so tightly packed around the centre column from which the next leave unfolds that is leaves a permanent indentation of its shape.
They are thorny but quite striking.

Succulent LOL.jpg

And this little farm scene looked so tranquil.

Why is a young girl in a very feminine outfit throwing a ball on the beach for her dog so alluring?
Is it because I am a dirty old man or is it because feminine skirts are so rare these days?
Or was it because none of her clothes were suitable for the beach and yet she was determined to give her dog his run?

And the love of a mother for her disabled child was wonderful to behold.
