Day 103

I went into town specifically to shoot this building which houses a Mexican restaurant. I drove past it yesterday and liked the colours.

In the end I have a series using just the one image and once again trying some HDR.

As shot

With a bit of "HDR" after creating 2 further exposures of -2 and + 2

Then I played with some colour curves to overcook just to see what it looks like.
This experiment produced some really cool colours. I have kept the layers as a .psd to have more fun later.
The following is not the best of them but is what I consider going too far.

This is a really cool building facade (IMO)

And I spotted a castle in the distance - never knew there was one here. Will visit at a later date.

And it seems some scaffolding has managed to break free.

Some great shots there Lawrence. I also like the colour in the Mexican Restaurant. I don't think you took it too far, and anyway, it's all about personal choice. If you like it you do it that way ;) I also really love the perspective of the 2nd shot of the building with all the glass and that scaffolding clamp. I just love rust :D

Day 104

A bit of a lazy day from a photography point of view. Guilty of watching the Masters and the day has just flown.
I will be reluctantly selling my "kit" lens - the 18-55mm that came with camera in the hope of making enough to buy something else. I haven't used the 18-55 since I got the 18-105 in early December.
Not quite sure what I want to buy yet. Will need to prioritise. A remote shutter release is definitely on the cards.
Anyway all I have tonight is a photo of the lens for sale.

Dood! That last one just hit it out of the park bro. Very nicely done. Looks like a futuristic Rubik's Cube building. Love the contrast.

Looks to be leaning some maybe?? Might just be me tho, I tend to lean at this time of night too.....

Doug I'm leaning too. ;)
I tried a few times but no matter what I do there still seems to be a lean on it. Should I go see a Doc or try again?

EDIT:
Had another look and the left side leans to the right while the right side leans to the left. So it basically tapers from bottom to top.
Rubic would be annoyed ...

Yeah, its one of those shots. Basically if I were to correct that in Lr it would keystone the hell out of it. Meh....still looks great man. Wall hanger bro. Wall hanger.

what I mean by keystone is it will taper the bottom in to straighten the vertical lines. Then you have to crop out to get rid of the taper.

The D5100 has perspective control in camera. Maybe you can try that.

I will resist from reiterating what others have said ... lest your ego grow by bounds! (But I very much like the picture!)

That looks awesome Lawrence! Very, very nice processing. Deezey is right, that's a total wall hanger. I would put either on my wall in a heartbeat. I especially like the first one. The perspective is very cool.
