Day 87

A tough day at the studio - beating myself up to fine something worthwhile.

First off a Tree house which to me looks like a building behind the tree rather than in it but I was confined by the farm fence. I can't exactly go trespassing to get a clear shot.

Flowers that stood out in the diminishing light.

The big milk factory down the road. I was a long way away with only my 18-105mm so this is a big crop.

Oh well it is what it is I suppose. At least my curried lamb dinner was a success.
I LOVE that flower shot :)

Day 96

Well fellow Nikonesians I promise I tried today. I set out to find something (anything other than traffic) that moves, in order to check my settings based on the PDF I studied yesterday.
I was horribly disappointed and I can honestly say this has been the hardest day for me because I was enthusiastic to put some learning into practice. Well tomorrow is another day.
So meagre pickings

At one point I was down by the river and saw this little fish.

Same fished cropped and processed

And right there was a bench with a plaque to remind me that Rusty and Jack enjoyed this spot. RIP

I did take photos but more to the point I was thinking photography today.

On bad days you are the nail. While on great days you are the hammer. But the on THOSE says, and you know which ones they are. You get to be the thumb.

All you can do is bandage it up and carry on. You'll get them next time!

I like that Deezey :D I had a nail day yesterday too. Maybe it's because at day 90ish you struggle to find something new. It's impossible to find something new every day I think .... so we must battle on ;) You are doing just fine Lawrence :D

Day 97

Picking up where I failed yesterday - because of lack of opportunity.
There was the annual "5 Bridges Race" on the Waikato today. Total distance is over 7 kilometres and they swim with the current. Just as well as it is a pretty potent current.
The winners do it in about 45 minutes - believe me the current plays a big part.
I took lots of photos so will break them into groups.
First waiting for the swimmers to arrive.

The river was teeming with fish.

Much bigger than yesterdays one.
I think there is a special filter one can buy to shoot "through" water.

Oops I forgot to mention the day started with this outside my room

Coming or Going LOL.jpg

This stump was on the side of the river bank

Large Stump LOL.jpg

This young lady framed by the bushes as she stepped on to nature's stage was a pleasant distraction

Framed LOL.jpg

And this fellow was headed up stream - which is why I left the photo "unstraightened" as it gives the impression of paddling upstream.

Upstream LOL.jpg

I like the water the oar kicked up

Then the swimmers started coming.
First the leaders

Leaders LOL.jpg

Then the trailing "bus" ( as it is called in running)

Five in a Bunch LOL.jpg

They were followed by hundreds all spread out over a big distance but this particular lass, towards the back of the field, was very casually doing some backstroke.
I loved her attitude

Oops left out the Duck Vs Man sideshow

The Duck Leads LOL.jpg

It all seemed well organised with lots of marshals in attendance.
This one saw me.
"Good afternoon madam, Just taking photos"

Busted LOL.jpg

The rest were more intent on the job than the paparazzi

Very intent LOL.jpg

And this one I like because of the duck (just above swimmers) having had enough!

That's about it folks - if you got bored this guy takes half the blame. The rest of the blame goes to the other half of him. The other half was taking the photo. Bwahahaha
It was a fun outing
