Yes , we did a little horse trading last night. Now I have my wide end covered with two prime lenses and can now start saving for that Sigma 150-600 lens. I'm going (if nothing major gets in the way) to the Circle B ranch in February to meet some of our fellow Nikonite shooters.

You'll love that place and we'll have a great time hope I can get my D7100 before then

There is nothing wrong with the D300/D700 combo! Fotojack is the new admin for the D300 fan club, as of a month or so ago, sorry my friend.
I would have stayed with that combo, but the D800E changed that for me, my first dream Nikon became mine after all! The D300 was just out matched, and if I was going to have a DX then it would need newer tech with higher MPs! The D7100 has come down in price and fit the bill for the reach with the MPs to out do the D800E inr certain cases! Lol :)

But for price and rep the D700/D300 seems like a better deal, especially considering the extras I always buy, like battery grips! Lol :D
@fotojack ha ha the most worthy choice!!

Have you bought your new computer yet Bill16 to handle all those mega megpixels?

Recently I passed up a super cheap D800 for mainly that reason, super happy with 12.1 I didn't want to go off course. Not too into still life, macro or landscape photography like you are. The D800 is surely your dream steed!
