As mentioned with the previous post, I had some more to share, but hadn't the will to get them out of the camera last night.

I've lived in this town for almost 22 years, and am embarrassed (and at the same time thrilled) to say that it's taken a photography addiction to make me discover things that have been under my nose for 2 decades. This little church is less than 1/2 a mile from my house, and I've been within a block of it in the neighborhood of 10,000 times over those years. And yet today (yesterday) was the first time I ever laid eyes on it. Need to poke my head inside one of these days.

BTW, the perspective correction on this gave me opportunity to use Content Aware Fill, and while it's not earth shattering, when I find time I'll post an example of how well it works or maybe a tutorial.

Please do! :) Nice church--just wondering why the two-toned steeple? (Rhetorical question). I don't recall ever seeing one painted this way before.

I suspect it may have something to do with the idea of the "church as a lighthouse", but I don't know for sure. I know I've seen it in the past, but never really took note of it - much like most of my town, apparently. LOL

And just to make note of it, this is the 6th photo in 15 days to have been taken from the seat of my car, again pushing the notion that we have no excuses not to take photos when we see them. I will try my best to be less lazy in the future. :)

My recent Rainbow Bee eaters were taken from the seat of my car, apparently they do not see a car as a threat but a human shape and they fly off.

I had the same experience with the Snowy Owl I photographed at the end of last year. From 150 yards away it took off as I walked across a muddy field, but I managed to drive to within 100 feet of it. Go figure.

That is why they use safari vehicles in Africa as you can get within touching distance of animals so long as they do not see a human silhouette. Kind a tells you something.

I hadn't checked this before posting originally, but have since done a little research into the denomination of this church, listed as "AME" in the name. I'd assumed A = American and that M was likely Methodist, but couldn't come up with anything. Turns out it's "African Methodist Episcopal", which seemed rather confusing, so I looked them up. Fascinating history of a denomination I'd never known existed before this little detour.

I have used my car many times as a blind. It works for birds and last fall for some white tail deer. I just recently took a shot of a bridge the same way.

Very nice Jake, I love the first one. The cracks in the ice add mystery to it and made me look twice before deciding that it wasn't shadows from the trees above. I got stuck to it.

I took a photo the other day that had a couple of similar cracks on the ice. Here I thought perhaps a branch had fallen through the ice but left its outline behind. Now that you mention it, perhaps the same thing happened in my photo--cracks in the ice! Thanks for the info! ;)
