"Lucky" depends on your squirrels. They can be quite a nuisance and get into homes and attics a lot if you're not careful. In the country where we are, there's more for them outside than in, but just having them on feeders is enough for some people to complain about them. Us? We love sharing their world, but when they start climbing the door jamb to tell us we haven't filled the feeders we're not necessarily thrilled with them. ;)

They sound like our possums which are also cute and also like to invade our homes. I've lived in the country for quite a few years now and have shared my house with all sorts of critters. They do overstep the mark sometimes tho :D

They are really good those flower shots :D The poppies especially. I like the backlighting from the sun. Don't suppose you know what sort the top flowers are?

Actually I do. And since you told me the one flower I didn't know I'll tell you - it's a Lilac. These are from plants we took from the house that I grew up in when my parents moved. We planted them on the side of our house and they've thrived there. My Dad passed away last summer and they had always made me think of him because as green a thumb as he had, he couldn't get Lilacs to take in Florida.

And thanks for letting me know about the Poppies. I didn't know what they were, but saw them lit like this driving home on Sunday and had to pull over.

I love lilac Jake. It's a flower of my childhood in England and one not seen so often in Australia here. I'm surprised I didn't pick it. It's nice when things trigger memories, so thank you for that. Sorry to hear about your dad. Mine passed away last year too :(

I like to make random stops to take photos too. Sometimes if in a hurry I see so many things I could stop for. I look at the light everywhere I go and I miss so many opportunities, but that's life :D

Playing with the macro lens indoors last night. Here's what's left of a Tomatillo that fell to the ground last fall and decayed in the snow. Grabbed it knowing it could be interesting to shoot before we tilled the garden.

What the MESS?? Great picture, but I gotta know... do they do that often!?

Jump out of trees? Pretty much all the time!! ;)

This is a bit of an optical illusion. I'm shooting up to a branch about 25 feet up. These particular birds do have a habit of just hopping off and gliding to a feeder, and I happened to catch this one as he did. The thing is, the original shot was rotated about 30 degrees counter-clockwise, which made for a very awkward looking bird. But when I rotated it I got this look. I'm never beyond saving an otherwise unusable shot. ;)

Ahhh... I thought he was just hanging upside down from the branch, LOL. We used to have a lovebird that did that all the time, and have seen parrots do it, but never a songbird; thus my surprise and confusion!

I'm still trying to figure out what's in the old church with the Ferrari flag flying out front.

Nice images, Jake! What is the EXIF on the 2nd shot (the bricks)? Perhaps somewhat wide yet shallow DOF? That one really interests me--as does the church although all are terrific! :)

You should get EXIF on the mouse-over - I'm seeing it. It's saying 66mm (24-120mm) at f/8. I was crouched low and shooting down the sidewalk, so it's actually a decent distance (I'm thinking 4-5 feet?), but the look is compressed. Too lazy on a Sunday to break out the dof app. LOL

Now the EXIF shows up, but when I viewed these earlier, all but this one displayed it. I have no idea why the glitch, but it is fine now. Thanks! ;)
