It ain't fair at all..
That i don't get enough time to spend on photography that i would like..
That some folks here are either pro's or retired or or or.. whatever and can spend tons of time on it..
it ain't fair that people are actually improving by leaps & bounds with every passing day with their photo taking skills & image manipulation-correction skils...
It just ain't fair that i go drool at people churning out some marvelous milky way pics, or some dear deer or fantastic flying birds or crazy crocs or painterly pics or Vibrant Vehicles, or publishing vivacious publications or..... i got lots more to complain about but i've run out of adjectives...
Booohooo :( :'(

Just the fact that it ain't fair makes me want to kick some... and be on par with the rest of ya!
Thanks to all who take undue advantage of this unfairness and maximize their knowledge and show off here just so that i can light some fires in the right places to keep me motivated and thirsty to learn more :)

Well, no pity, you really don't have much to complain about. :) I guess I have mostly only seen your macros of flowers, but wow! I can't even imagine how you are able to find so many, but you make them gorgeous.

Dude...you live in INDIA, a place just dripping with photographic subjects everywhere you turn, fer crying out loud,. What do I have in CA? A beach with small waves, the desert and some grandkids, that's it!! Get out there and get some images of those spiritual Ascetics or some street vendors or any of the thousands of other subjects I wish I could spend some time capturing. :D

Yeah, I'm sure we all did but I think we like the first part better. ;)

Haha..
But with all honesty, from the time i've joined - a little over a year, the skill level of everyone, not just the new members, has tremendously gained ground..
guess we all winners huh :)

The part of Alabama I live in is really boring. It is all green, just green. No hill, no rocks, nothing really interesting. That is why I have so many zoo pictures. At least it is interesting. I have to find places to drive too to see things that I want to shoot.

WhiteLighte, you live in a beautiful place and you have lots of bugs to photograph. And Dave, really?

I live in a tiny village in Eastern France and wondered what I was going to do with my camera. Every day brings me greater and greater pleasure. I've only explored 3kms of the canal bank and it has already given me some 3500 photos in 3 months. One of these days I'll start to take photos of the village.

I'm spoiled. I love in the mountains of Western North Carolina so I have PLENTY of material to work with! My problem is lack of time to get out there and shoot and to learn Lightroom or Aperture to properly process my photos. Plus lack of money to buy new glass but that's a completely different thread!

“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
--Ansel Adams

You are exactly where you need to be. Think of everything that happens in your life as preparation for those moments when you capture those masterpieces where you, as the creator, can sigh, and finally say humbly to yourself, "Wow. I'm happy with this." If you could do only photography all day long, your path would take you to a different place. Relax into it and remember that just like life, it's a journey, and is very much linked to life, as Ansel Adams said.

Just unbelievable... you not gonna believe me if i said i thought of the exact same thing this morning//
i really did..
thinking back of how i was brought into photography by having a camera thrust (read gifted :)) into my hands & for me to actually feel it to be a part of me and where i want to go.....inexplicable.

They say there's no such thing as coincidences!

It's a little funny how we find our life so boring since that's what we see around us everyday. Nothing exciting right? On the other hand, other people find our lives interesting since that is new to them. I guess I feel neutral (slightly) since Japan has a rich culture and I live inside a Naval base that has only an approx 5 mile radius. I tried walking around yesterday and was able to take some pictures. Nothing interesting to me and some I can't post publicly.

I still work full time, 24/7. I don't get paid overtime, just a salary that my Uncle Sam pays me. There are times that I find my environment "boring" since I work on these steel things that floats but I am certain that someone will find this very interesting and would love to be on board one to take more pictures.

I've been to Goa, India before back in 2006. I am certain that there are a lot of places, wildlife, landscape and just about anything. Share the culture of your country or even simple pictures. Those pictures will let us somehow also experience what you see around you.

I live five miles from the beach and hardly ever visit it. I lived in Colorado and hardly ever went into the mountains. Life keeps getting in the way. I work a full-time job, volunteer at the local school and with two local youth groups. I own my own home, and I never seem to have enough time to do what I want because there is always something to do to keep the house in order.

But the bottom line is I make some of my choices, and this web site, and its members, are giving me the inspiration to get out creatively with my cameras again. It's time to grab the camera and press the shutter button on what I have, and to not lament about what I have not!!

When I retired I made the decision to try and shoot every day. Somewhere, something. Rotator cuff surgery got int the way for a while but now getting back to it now. The only problem now is the constant rain.

I look at as many of the shots here as I can every day and get inspiration from many of the people here. My shooting has improved since I started and I owe that to many of the great people on this site. Where I really think a lot of my improvement has come from is in post processing. I learn something new just about every day.
