I had to drive into town today, so I went a different way than I normally go.
I took my camera with me and took a few photos along the way.

I spotted this Studio in the suburbs, I liked the colours, so I stopped and clicked.

I finished work a little earlier today.
Instead of doing the jobs at home that are waiting for me, I took a walk around with the 70-300VR on the D7100.

I walked out onto the verandah and the young Joey was watching me.
She is still living under the verandah, wont be long now I suspect that she will go and live with the others in the bush.

Just behind my house, this fellow was cautiously watching me as I made my way along the track.
He is starting to lose his winter coat, his fur looks a bit patchy. Clumps of it will fall out when he is fighting the other males.

Down on the creek paddock, this Kangaroo and her Joey making the most of what was left of the afternoon sun.

This young buck was ready to take off through the fence after his friends who took fright when they saw me coming.

I took a few photos of this Butterfly, this was the better one of a bad bunch.
They were all a bit blurry.

This is the way I spell jungle shot!

Hi Ironwood,

Really too bad you did not use a pol on this one… it would have made my day!

The most beautiful "almost" of the day!

Have a good time!

Hi Kodiak, I have something to learn from each and every shot I take. Thanks for the tip of the pol filter.

Berries on a tree in my garden.

Ironwood, please come back to the natural look of things!

The use of flash is to open up shadows, correct colours etc, but like salt, it should
not be used everywhere!

These berries are not looking so good because of its flatness, high specular lights
and deep penetration. Daylight does not perform this way.

The colours are bright but there is no natural charm to it!

Have a good day…

Good points Kodiak. Thanks for the open feedback.

I was playing around with the onboard flash this afternoon, seeing what effect it had on my photos.

I think I posted this one because of its unnatural look.

As to salt, I dont add it to any of my food. But pepper is a different story.

I took a few insect shots again this afternoon, these are the best three I ended up with. There is a lot of room for improvement.

I had to use the flash on this little spider, as he was hiding in the shadows.

I annoyed these little green flies again, they are so hard to get a good shot. I think a longer lens would definitely help, so I dont have to get so close. The 55 needs to be right on top of them to get the shot, and they get real jittery. I just used the available afternoon light for this shot, and I didnt quite get it right, but it was the the best one out of the bunch.

This one would definitely have been better with a faster shutter speed.

Great photos mate :) love the insect macros.

Thanks Scott. I've been getting into the insect photography a bit lately and having a ball.
Looking at getting a bit longer macro lens, the 55mm scares them a bit trying to get close enough, it does pull off the odd good shot though.

I am using a 90mm macro and find that I too need a longer lens, have you thought of a Raynox adaptor? I am looking at getting one. Or even an extension tube or two.

I was on the verge of buying a 2nd hand Tokina 100mm macro, but someone beat me to it. Still looking at my options now.
As well as a longer lens, I will get a 1.4 TC and some extension tubes. The Kenko tubes look to be quite good, and reasonable priced.
I also want to get some form of lighting as well, not sure if I will get a ring flash, or a regular flash and buy or make a soft box type thing for it.

I havent looked at a Raynox adaptor yet but will check them out.

I have a set of those magnifying filters that I bought many years ago and never used, I tried them out recently and wasn't impressed with them. They will go to the back of the cupboard again.
