I'm missing my macro and Wallaby shots too Doug, thanks for the concern.
I have only turned one pen since before Christmas, it was for a rush order for one of my regulars. And I sold one of my Paua shell pens last week, you wouldn't believe it, its on its way to NZ, for a going away present. Hopefully I will get news that it has arrived soon, it will put my mind at rest when it arrives.
I have a couple of other orders for pens that I really have to get started, I hate having to put them off because I can't find the spare time to get them started.
Thanks Lawrence, yes we are lucky here to have such diverse wildlife, you will have to come over to the mainland for a holiday.
I am missing my shots aswell, but getting out when the humidity is 90%+ and sweat running in your eyes is not fun lol, and to top it off gusty winds and heavy rain, thunder and lightning etc lol.
Keep safe during those cyclones as it seem 2 may form either side of the tip.
That one up in the Gulf is more likely to trouble you than me I think Scott, but the one in the Coral Sea could possibly head our way.
The panic buying started already today at the supermarket, it will continue tomorrow, there will be no bread or milk left on the shelves by tomorrow afternoon, and we probably only have a 2% chance of being affected by the cyclone.
The media have a lot to answer for, they tell people to stock up on essentials etc, and people just go overboard, happens every time.

You know all the cyclones that we have had up here I have not stocked up once, the reason is that I have enough food and water around to last me plenty of time. This panic buying is funny. Will be interesting to see what the two systems do, wonder if there is a chance of them combining?

I know I'm a little late to the game on this one. Image seems a flat and monotone, and sort of suffers from something to focus on. Using PSE 9 (nothing fancy), did an overall light adjustment to brighten it a bit, then I used the burn tool to darken the midtones in the rocks in the foreground a bit so they weren't pronounced (more or less back to where they were in the original). Then I dodged some of the shadows out on the hill to the right and burned in some midtones and highlights in the trees in the background. This framed the water a little better, drawing your eye there. Then I used a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to boost saturation a touch (+14) and I slid the Hue slider to the left (-10) which brought out some of the yellows in the foliage. Not sure how accurate it is to mother nature, but it pops a bit more.
On looking at it again, it could still stand to be a tad bit brighter, and maybe a nudge warmer on the temp slider.
Hey Jake, thanks for taking the time to have a play with it, and then explaining your process so well.
I am afraid I am still taking small steps with my PP, but all the gems of info that I see on here help me to see just what can be done.
I will have a better look at your version on my mac screen this afternoon when I get home, I am viewing on my crappy work monitor at the moment.

The photo in post #191 was taken in a new spot I have found, there seems to be a colony of these colourful Jumping Spiders living in a fan palm with one on almost every leaf. It is very difficult lighting where it is though, no direct sunlight, it is all filtered through the palm leaves giving a very green cast to everything.
Cyclone Ita is heading along the coast towards where I live. It is only cat. 1 now, and it is passing a bit to the East of us, so I don't expect it to affect me too much.
We will get a bit of wind and rain tonight. My house is nestled between some steep hills so the worst of it will be deflected well above us, thats my theory anyway, and I am sticking to it.

Well the cyclone passed by last night, very little damage to speak of, just some tree branches down, and some Sugarcane crop damage, the cane is laying down in some areas.
The roads to the north of us are flooded at the moment, high tide is at 10am this morning, so the floodwaters should get away quickly after that and we will be back to normal.
Everyone is having a sigh of relief, as we were expecting it to be a bit worse. Some of the ones to the north of us were'nt so lucky though, some people lost the roof off their houses.

Glad to hear you weathered through. You have to love hills in situations like that! I live in a valley area, only thing that saved the house back in the early 2000 during a tornado. Stuff like that doesn't climb hills too well. Now the town over from us.....was flat. And was even flatter .

Thanks Marilynne and Doug. We got off very lightly in our area. There is a lot of Sugarcane laying down from the winds, but after talking to a few farmers, its probably not as bad as I thought, it can still be harvested, so all is not lost.
The Tomato farmers in Bowen (to the north of us) have lost a large percentage of their crop, and the Banana farms further north will be damaged as well.
