Ironwoods Pen Journey

300+k for the wallaby 500+k for the truck max size for a file around 1.9 meg. It would have to be a very sick computer to have a problem with downloads of this size. The wallaby (hope that what it is) looks
like it could step right out of the picture onto your keyboard.

I'm definitely no computer guru, so I'll take your word for it.

The hopper on the log is an "Unadorned Rock Wallaby", we have dozens of them living in the bush around our house, they come up onto the verandah at night.
I found out they can climb trees too, one was getting onto the roof of the house at night until I cut the tree down. You wouldnt believe how much noise they can make on a tin roof.:hororr:

After seeing what the D800's could do with the moon shots, I was curious what I could do with the D3100 and 55-200 zoom.
Early this morning there was a break in the clouds, I took a series of shots, most were overexposed, this was about the best of them.
It falls way short of the ones muzza22au and mojo dave posted recently.

I had to crop it very heavily to make it look a bit bigger...

This one is on medium, the Rock Wallaby was on large.

Edit:: this one will still need to be clicked on to enlarge to see it properly. The large size works better for me, but I wonder if it plays havoc with a slower computer.
I remember on another forum I frequent, some people were complaining about other people putting large photos in their posts as it would slow down the pages loading.
Does anyone have trouble here ?

This one took about a second to load on my computer. I haven't had anyone make a comment about any of my pictures being slow to load and I usually post them around 1000k. Jeff

Good to know, thanks Jeff.
My imac at home has no trouble, but this old computer at work that I use was having trouble, but I changed to Google Chrome, and its a lot quicker now.

I gave myself an early finish from work yesterday, so I took a drive down to the Mackay Harbour, I like to go down there and check out the boats.

EDIT:: These were taken with the 18-55VR lens, the first two had a CPF fitted to the lens, I notice a bit of vignetting in the corners, is that normal ?

Love the Rock Wallaby

They're cute little buggers aren't they, they give us a lot of pleasure having them around our place, except when they crap all over the verandah, and on the roof of my car.

My Wife had a couple that were coming right up to her and eating out of her hand, it took a long time for them to become that trusting, as they are naturally a very timid animal.

The last few years we are a lot busier with our work, so not home as much, and they have gone back to keeping their distance.

I had a couple of minutes spare this afternoon so I tried Kims suggestion of the ipad screen.
While I think it has potential, I think I have got some lighting issues to sort out to get them looking great.

Looking at this pen with my eyes, the Paua Shell looks vibrant and shimmering and glossy, in the photos it looks washed out and dull.
Maybe I need a bit more light coming from the same direction as the camera ?

I have tried a bit of experiment with my lighting, and I think I am on a winner.
I have mounted 4 new lights on the outside of my lightbox shining in.
First is a photo with no diffuser over the lights, I was just seeing if it was going to work...

nl-4.jpg

These next 3 have a white cloth over the lights for a diffuser, same cloth as my light tent is made of.
The first is the same Paua shell pen I have shown previously, I like this a lot better than the look of the older photos
nl-1.jpg

These 2 are of a bolt action pen that a customer has commissioned, the purple has some cultural meaning to him.
