Internet Sales Tax

I think they are going to say like 10 million for the cut off so maybe this deal won't be so bad after all unless you are buying from Amazon or something or maybe an online subscription to Adobe. haha These deals are always confusing.

That's a pretty good chunk of change that can help with things like paving crappy roads.
That's assuming the local political collective is made up of something other than mentally challenged idiots who don't give a damn about anything except their own political careers and appeasing the local church/cult.

I have no problem with sales tax being collected whatsoever. I think it really will help bring in additional revenue. However, all those brick and mortar stores that have argued it will "level the playing field" are going to shocked when they find it won't. Even with sales taxes in place, I can still find an item cheaper online (total price to my door) than I can locally. The only shopping we do locally is for groceries. Everything else is online.

We also buy most everything we can online. It's not because of sales tax, Oregon has none, I just haven't found that much merchandise of any type where brick and mortar retailers can compete with online sellers.

Considering the sheer number of muni, county and state sales tax jurisdictions across the US, if it passes implementation of internet tax collection is going to be an administrative nightmare. Code writers will be the big winners.

We pay 7% here in FL. I'm hoping for internet sales tax to help even the playing field for local retailers. I have friends that are shop owners and every little bit helps against their internet based competition.

They need to take it one step further if this does end up passing: meet or beat online pricing. If they can do that, then the playing field will truly be level. Unfortunately for small shops, they don't get the discounts that larger chain stores do, thus less of a profit margin. Still, you would think people would be motivated to purchase a product locally, at the same price, yet have the satisfaction of having that product immediately (assuming it is in stock).

If pricing was identical between brick and mortar and internet retailers I'd still rather have merchandise delivered to my door. The cost of shipping is less expensive than me running a vehicle and don't get me started on the general ignorance and apathy of brick and mortar "team members".
