That's assuming the local political collective is made up of something other than mentally challenged idiots who don't give a damn about anything except their own political careers and appeasing the local church/cult.That's a pretty good chunk of change that can help with things like paving crappy roads.
We pay 7% here in FL. I'm hoping for internet sales tax to help even the playing field for local retailers. I have friends that are shop owners and every little bit helps against their internet based competition.
They need to take it one step further if this does end up passing: meet or beat online pricing. If they can do that, then the playing field will truly be level. Unfortunately for small shops, they don't get the discounts that larger chain stores do, thus less of a profit margin. Still, you would think people would be motivated to purchase a product locally, at the same price, yet have the satisfaction of having that product immediately (assuming it is in stock).
don't get me started on the general ignorance and apathy of brick and mortar "team members".
