Oh and here is a funny,
Shortly after I left cali she calls me. Hey I found this cool site that has all this equipment and ... she found Talkwells site. I seriously stopped her mid sentence and told her that name was never to be spoken of again. I explained that in the land of actual photographers he is banned for life. He has cause more trouble for new photographers than any other person in the photography field.

I think there are some good ideas here. I think it's pretty perfect the way Anthony set it up specifically because by having to "judge" a photo, you learn as much about your own skills and vision as when you make a photo. When the winner is picked, I always go back and look at all the photos and try to see what the "judge" saw in the photo. It might be nice to also ask the "judge" to state a reason for his selection, simply for the sake of learning. But then this might open it up to some of the jerks and trolls who just look for a reason to be unkind. So I have mixed feelings on this one.

As for the "hiccups", I help Anthony with the posting and am probably responsible for most of them. Sometimes life just "happens". We get nothing out of this except joy from interacting with the wonderful friends on this forum and hopefully encouraging everyone in their photography. BTW, there is no stipend attached to the title of "moderator" and we all get our share of abusive PM. I'm always grateful for those who don't attack me.

So, a big 'thank you' to Anthony for starting the challenge thread and for being a gentleman and never blaming me for the hiccups.

This "oh don't listen to them, your photo is your photo and if you like it that's all that matters" crap. That is true to a POINT. Photography is NOT just about your eye, or what YOU think looks good or likes, its technical too, and requires SOME skill. That's what I want. I want to see the SKILLS...I can care less what the subject it. just make it an even playing field by saying no flash can be used since not everyone has one.

PHOTOGRAPHY is as you say, but I don't do PHOTOGRAPHY. I do photography. My photography.
That means that it is ONLY about MY eye, MY artistic vision and what I think looks good.
I have never claimed to be your WORLD CLASS, just MY world. You are one hell of a talented PHOTOGRAPHER.
On the other hand, I view photography in MY world as my expressive art. And I think that I am quite the artist.
