Without specific tags I find that any Forum search is a matter of pouring through the results hoping to find what you're looking for. I'm used to that and use it when I'm looking for something, but more times than not I do it at the Forum level and not across he entire site.
I don't think I've used it often enough to warrant a meaningful response on the poll.
The very few times I've used it is to search for a thread which I was looking at and wanted to revisit but hadn't subscribed to - it helped that I remember vaguely what the thread was about.
If and when I use the search facility in more demanding/regular searches could I provide a good feedback on this question
I often get easier to sift results doing a google search with my search terms followed by 'site:nikonites.com' to limit the search to this site. If that is still too crazy, I'll go for a google advanced search.
Have used it a few times..
but usually end with almost every post with that keyword pulling up.. but not contextual..
the search is good in a way as it pulls out everything that's there, but may not be accurate in terms of what you search for.
Just to show what i was talking about, see below for an example
The search item is 'Flash'.. just assuming i want to buy a flash..
In the results, there's only ONE thread regarding flashes in the full page..
i did search 'for thread' and not 'for posts'
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I installed a Google search to see how it works, and it seems like it gets pretty good results, but there are time I like to use the built in search too. Check it out: Nikonites - Search Results
Well, there are a couple problems with that search - One, there is a Flash specific forum, so there shouldn't be any flash topics in the other equipment forum anyway. Two - you can use the advanced search to include only words in titles, which would give you better results in that case.
