How bad is your NAS Addiction?

I sold one motorcycle, a Suzuki SV1000, to fund my way into this passion. I had bought that bike back in 2009 just as my motorcycle riding was winding down, so it wasn't doing much more than taking up space in the garage. That sale paid for my current kit.

Now I'm contemplating selling my main motorcycle, a BMW R1200RT, along with the four GPS units, extra fuel cell, spare wheels, etc ... to feed the experimentation.

Wow! Haven't ever considered getting rid of my main bike. Big bald guy bikin' the back roads with my kit in a saddle bag... that just feels like the perfect life. Can't imagine ditching one passion to fund the other.

I have to say this has been an extreme NAS year for me. Sold my DX kit (D300, Sigma 10-20, Nikkor 17-55, Nikkor 35/1.8, Nikkor 18-200) and moved to FX (D800, Sigma 12-24, Rokinon 14, Tamron 24-70, Nikkor 28-105, Tamron 28-300). Probably going to sell the Rokinon and Nikkor 28-105. Then Henry's had that ridiculous price on the V2 so I wound up upgrading my V1.

The best part was that I recommended a friend for a job and got a referral bonus that covered the cost of a used D800. Selling the DX kit more than covered a new Tamron 24-70. Man I can justify anything - just ask my wife! :D

The BMW hasn't seen much use since 2009 either, with the odo hovering just over 60K. In a lot of ways, that passion has already died down, and there's been a gap between when that one faded and when the photo bug bit ... I don't know. The wife has been a good sport and has tried to go riding with me multiple times, but has too much anxiety with it for it to be enjoyable for either of us. It's a tough decision, but one that's flipping through my head pretty regularly these days.

Well I guess I fudged a little with my previous post since I'm now picking up a 35mm f/1.8 to replace the one that not-so-mysteriously found it's way into the girlfriend's camera bag. Permanently it seems.

To balance things out I'm putting my rarely touched 50mm f/1.8 up for sale since I don't really feel I need both.

Was I just deluding myself?

I'm always looking at the stuff I own to see what I could part with to fund my NAS. Recently, I've been looking at my 3 compressors to see which one I could do without. Looks like I'll be putting up my de Walt 200 psi 15 gallon unit to fund the Tokina 11-16 I so desperately want! Hope it works out. :)

Hmmmmm how much do kidneys go for.........................? VS being scared of doctors, and arguing with my wife about my selling one.......................................

Nope can't argue with my beloved! The kidney selling is out! But quitting smoking might be an option if I get really really extremely desperate.............. I won't have to argue with my beloved then. But then again I may not get the money saved from quitting smoking for my NAS needs either, even if I did quit. :(

There has got to be a better way! Lol :p
