Great shots as we have come to expect from you BUT how did you get the girls hair to do this. I would think that she was moving fast but the dog is stationary in both shots. They both really give the shot character.

In the first, we were at a really windy place. Very cool place but to many people to get clean pictures. At the second as I remember, the girl were just moving around but the dog were looking at something - we saw 2 big deers just shortly before :) And wind too, but not as much as we were behind this tree.

What do you think?

I just responded to a thread talking about the rule of thirds and horizon cutting through the center of a photo. I know that rules are meant to be broken but in this case I don't see the wall and sign really help the shot. move the dog down and the remaining part of the sign you can clone out. I would still keep the dog centered though because of the building on either side.

I tried a bit of cropping, but hmm. Will look again tomorrow.
Maybe the sign should have been placed more to a side and maybe it just have to go.

Yes thats of course how I cropped it, but not sure I like it.. Seems to flat? Where the first have a lot going on at the top, and nothing (if I remove the sign) at the bottom.

My first huge group shot! Would this crop be okay or do I need to make it more square?! I wanted the building in, as its beautiful and also the place they are having the party. The lines give me a hard time though, but its because the house are really old, so its not straight!

Group shot is great. I wouldn't crop out the building. Adds interest and is certainly a talking point for the guests. The middle wedding portrait is beautiful. They must have been thrilled with this. Worth printing. The last shot (for me) is a little overwhelmed by the rays of light. If the light rays weren't there, this is the photo I'd use to crop in landscape format.

But wow, they're beautiful photos. Cheers, Brad :)

Thank you very much :) I just took the pictures today, so havent send any yet. Maybe I should email them the portrait, so they'll see it tomorrow.

Maybe the b/w are a bit to much, will look at it again. I took the pictures from several positions, so maybe another will be better for landscape.

I find the ray of sunshine distracting on this one. Like the first and second.

What to do about this? I really think this place is hard to photograph in. Its our big and beautiful town hall, but for some reason, the wedding ceremonies takes place at this tiny, tiny almost dark room. There are windows on right side, but these are always with curtains for, because it leads out to the main hall.

Besides this, its SOOO hot, so people (and the couple getting married in particular), gets really sweaty fast.

I used flash, guess I should have used a higher aperture. I used f/7.1 to be sure to get them both sharp, but with this little room, the people and wall behind, gets to sharp.

Do you have any suggestions for editing? I've added some blur on the people standing behind, as they looked very... blitz'ish.

Am wondering if something like this: softbox for camera could help me more next time.

Maybe you could save this shot with a little more post processing, but I think your flash wasn't powerful enough for the working distance. The shot seems to miss exposure. And you're right about keeping a certain aperture to get the DOF but the only way to have it it to use a more powerful flash when working from a certain distance. Remember that light fall off very fast as soon as the distance gets bigger. I used to know the formula but I think it's Light= flash power/distance x distance.
