It's been quite a while since I posted any photos. Here's what I've been doing.

This is one of the collage posters I made for the high school's drama department. Creating the filmstrip was a little bit of a bear. I needed to change one of the photos on the filmstrip and wound up having to do the entire thing all over a second time. In the end it was worth the time and effort. ;) When I first started making their posters, I wanted to do something like this but didn't know how. I like having one color for the background but prefer adding in a slight gradient. The background is slightly lighter on one corner of the photo and gets darker towards the opposite corner diagonally.

And below are two photos of the Delaware Canal taken on October 31st. We did have some nice photo opportunities with the colors of the leaves changing. Both of these started as DNG files that were mostly edited in Bridge before a little dodging in Photoshop. Both are quite similar--for the second photo, I simply walked down the towpath a little. The fence on the left is the same one in both photos.

The poster is extremely well done but you landscapes are jaw-dropping.

Nikonites needs a "Wow!!" button...
....

Thanks, Fish! :)

The landscapes started out as NEF converted to DNG. I've found Bridge to work perfectly for my needs so I haven't opened Lightroom in ages. I love Bridge's ability to use the adjustment brush to bring out detail in the darker areas. I doubt it would have been possible to wind up with the same outcome if I had started with the jpegs (I shoot jpegs in one card slot and NEF in the other).

The latitude for adjusting the lighter and darker areas is amazing when shooting RAW files.

Have to agree with Fish, wow.

That poster is fantastic, wish I had an inkling of creativity like that.

Thanks! :) Since the poster was for the drama department, I figured a filmstrip be a nice theme. Then I searched online to see if I could find a video on how to create one. And the idea to include photos with white borders came from a collage someone else posted here on Nikonites. I had the poster printed and donated it to the school along with all the other show posters I've made for them. Genuine theaters hang show posters in their lobbies so the department loves having the posters. However, it's difficult to come up with varying ideas to make the posters different. Since the woman in charge of the department wanted lots of photos from each show, all of my previous posters were just general collage posters. Now I'd like to find other unique ideas, and that is the hardest part!

Horoscope Fish my township is running a photo contest. We can enter as many photos as we'd like in any or all of the categories of landscape, architecture, wildlife, plants, or other. I could enter both photos but would rather pick just one. Which one would you say is the better of the two?

Number One looks good, but Number Two is better. I think Number Two has better compositional balance with the lightness of the sky counterbalancing the darker, heavier foliage below. The "V" shape of the foliage also works well with that strong leading line created by the fence, canal and path. That particular line is present, but far weaker, in Number One. Number Two also has those dramatic clouds happening. Number One is a really nice shot, but Number 2 is far better, IMO.

Great photos, @hark. I was in your area a few weeks ago. Only had one day, and that certainly wasn't enough time to photograph everything I wanted to see.

Thanks, Steve! I wasn't sure how colorful this area would be since we didn't have a lot of rain this year. Fortunately we've had some decent color. Plus we haven't had any huge storms--those tend to make the leaves fall off quickly. There's still some color on the trees although many have lost at least some of their leaves. Last year and this year have been amazing for photo opportunities.

Did you take any photos while you were here?

We went to Cape May, and then to Philly. Didn't take any during the drive from Philly to Ct. You can see the photos on my Flickr page.

Being a 24/7 caregiver, my time is limited; however, my intention is to get out more frequently this year to shoot than I did in 2015. This was taken today at a local Community Park. It's the first time I've seen such a huge flock of seagulls on land. The Delaware River isn't too far away so it's common to see them on the river banks but not so common here. And it was my first time having them standing on solid ground--definitely a nice way to start out the New Year! I'm not accustomed to taking bird photos...especially ones in motion...so my New Year really started off with a bang!

Of course, once they became airborne and started circling above me, I quickly retreated to my car! I didn't want to be their target practice! ;) Fortunately I was able to take a number of photos before they started flying directly overhead.

Nicely done... Looking forward to seeing your shots!

Thanks kindly, Paul. I've spent the last 3-1/2 years taking drama photos for the local high school, and with hundreds of images per shoot to go through and edit, I haven't spent much taking photos for myself. I learned a great deal volunteering for them, but sadly I needed to make the choice to stop because of the time element involved. They had around five shows per year. I was taking 300-400 shots per show and editing 200+ each time. I loved it and learned from it, but now it's time to put some of what I learned into use for myself.

Nice start, thats a years worth of bird shots in one :D
Lol! It was very quiet at the park with few people out walking. I was far enough away from the walking path that I kept wondering why the seagulls constantly took flight. I wan't making any quick movement, nothing was close by to scare them, and no noises to distract them. Was able to get several shots of them flying around. :D
