Thanks Mike and Roy for your comments and the likes from the other members. Roy, as far as the eye being in focus, unless it is a bird in flight I treat it like a portrait and put my single focus point on my subjects eye whether it is animal or human. To me having the eye in focus can either make or break a photo. Thanks again to everyone for taking a look at my photos.

The Pinta and Nina were here in Biloxi , Ms. for a visit so I went down to take a look and get some pictures. These are replicas of the boats Columbus used to come to America. The way they were displayed at the dock made it almost impossible to get a good picture. The picture below is of the Nina with the back end of the Pinta on the right hand side of the frame. Any further right and there was a big boat docked blocking the view.

Information about the boats can be found HERE.

You pretty near had to be in a small boat... on the other side (in the water to get a really good shot.. I hate it when that happens... The other is a classic car show, they are sandwiched in like sardines, near impossible to get a clean pic of a car..

Pat, in this location they seemed to go out of their way to screw up any pictures that the public might have wanted to take. It was a nightmare for picture taking.

I would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and all the best for you and your family in 2014. I have been a member here for almost two years and would like to say that I have made friends with a lot of new people and learned a lot from them. This site has a range of photographers going from beginner to professional and all seem to get along well and have a very helpful attitude towards the other members. I have been part of several sites and have to say that I rate this one right at the top among all of them

In this coming year I am setting my number one photography goal to learn as much about flash on and off the camera as I can. Improving my lighting skills with a flash or flashes has become my top priority lately and I am determined by the end of this year if not sooner to be as accomplished with my flash units as I possibly can be. I have the SB600, SB800, and SB900 Nikon flashes and a few others that are not Nikon brand. I have purchased a small softbox to go on my flash. a Rogue flash bender, a Better Beamer, along with a few Pocket Wizards that are on the way so I will have plenty to play with. Hopefully I will be able to show much improvement over the next twelve months in the lighting department and will be able to be of help to others with what I have learned.

Well now you know what my photography plans are for 2014 and I hope as time goes on that I will be able to post some pictures showing what I have learned. Hope you have a great year!!!

Not posting anymore Jeff or did you start a new thread that I missed?

There just hasn't been anything to take a picture of. I like to try and post something that I am interested in and not just take a picture for the sake of posting something. This is why I don't have a 365 thread. I will continue on with this thread when I spot something of interest to take a picture of. I appreciate you asking why I haven't been posting. I plan on continuing on with the this thread when I get something to post. Send me some birds!!!!

I only went to the mailbox today. It started out at 45, the sun came out briefly and shot up to 50. Then the gloom and doom started and it plummeted back to 45 and hasn't moved since. It's gonna be a nasty night for the farmers.

Great shot Jeff... I am with Philly on the reflections! (BTW, thanks for the 7000 tips, been going back and skimming through them!)

Thanks Pat on both the comment on the picture and the tips thread. I am really surprised at the tip thread because it has been viewed 122,717 times so far. Hopefully with that many people that have looked at it I have been able to give several people some helpful information.
