Sometimes your bird photos make me laugh, other times, smile, and they are always enjoyable. The pelicans are really a hoot, sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Barbra. I really enjoy looking at the pictures posted by others here on the site and especially like the friendly atmosphere that the members have toward each other. I don't tolerate unfriendly people well, so this place works great for me. I like being part of this site and community of photographers.

Did you ever get around to getting your D600? You had mentioned in your thread that you would purchase one with what you made from the Credit Union job....

Not only did you nail the photos but I am with you on the philosophy of being here at Nikonites! I feel the same way!

I have an email to my contact at the credit union to line up a delivery time. At the time of delivery I will present them with the final bill and it will take about a week and a half to get paid. At that point I will be off to the camera store to check out the D600 and make a purchase. Probably in the next two or three weeks. I'm not in a real hurry because I have my D7000 and D90 to shoot with.

I know what you mean. I deal with enough nasty people at work that I don't need added stress with something I enjoy.

Please keep the pelican & egret photos coming. I truly enjoy them. They are such different birds than what we see here in upstate NY. We have lots and lots and lots of Canada geese, though. :)

Osprey out on a limb. I took this with my Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 300-800mm at 800mm. With the crop factor added in it would be the film equivalent of 1200mm. It was taken in very bad light but I wanted to try the lens out.

Handheld? Shutter speed and ISO?

Great shot especially at 800mm

I am probably one of the biggest men on this site and there is NO WAY I could possibly handhold this monster of a lens, it is strickly for use on a tripod. The shutter speed I think was too low even for a tripod.

ISO 900
1/400
F11
On tripod

Shot at 800mm times 1 1/2 crop factor added would end up being 1200mm. You really have to keep this lens nailed down but when you do it will give you amazingly sharp pictures. This was my first time to use it and the bugs were eating me up so the shot could have been much, much sharper.

at that shutter speed even with a tripod that is great. That is a monster lens.

I went out today with my D7000 and a Sigma 300-800mm zoom to try out this lens again. This time there were no bugs eating me up and the light was much better. Needless to say this shot is better than the last one I posted.

I have some more good news to share with my friends today! I was contacted by the credit union that is buying a bunch of my canvas photos and they are purchasing a file of another of my images that will be used on the front of their corporate credit cards. Example below. I blacked out the card number for safety sake.
