I was out today and spotted this and wasn't sure what it was because it was soooo high up that it was just a tiny dot in the sky. I am amazed that I even got a focus on him. I wasn't sure if it might have been a buzzard the way it was gliding around at such a high altitude. This is at 600mm on a crop sensor camera with a severe crop.

I was over at M.D.Anderson Cancer Center in Houston this past week and found out my cancer is back and will have to go through chemo again and add stem cell procedure also. I will be getting to know Houston a lot better.
I got a chance to go out today and get a few shots in and relax a little. This was taken at a distance of about 600ft.

Jeff you always have great shots. That "Buzzard" shot is great for the conditions. I can relate only with 300mm on cropped sensor. Ha!

Sorry for the "C" news. Praying for your strength and healing.

Another shot of the osprey. Marilynne, I just want you to know that I had this wild idea to do my Doctor Dolittle thing and see if I could really talk with these osprey. There was this one having dinner and another one up and to the right in a nest. As soon as I made my sound they answered and every time I would do my osprey call they would answer back. This went on for several minutes and each time I stopped they stopped also. Thia was kinda neat. It was like we were having a conversation. I guess I do have a little DR. Dolittle in me after all. LOL

Great story Jeff.

I try to talk to the male Red Winged Blackbirds. People around me think I'm crazy, but some times it does work.

I've also told some people watching the Ospreys fish that when it gets one, it always flies over me to show me its catch. You should see the look on their faces when it flies by with a fish in its talons.

I think I captured that special moment for our Osprey at Gulf Island National Seashore Park today. Shot handheld with a big crop and I'm guessing that I am about 1200 ft away.

This picture was taken at a distance of 550ft with my Nikon D7000 and my Tamron 150-600mm lens. Check out the detail in it's eye!

Getting the pose just right when they are way up in the sky is a little more challenging than when they are on the ground. Taken hand held.

Well, Jeff, he seems to take your direction quite well. Lovely pose:) Hope you will soon have your health concerns in your rear view mirror. There are a lot more birds out there that need your directing skills.

Thanks Ron, I really enjoy going out and taking pictures. Even if I don't get any pictures it is just very relaxing being out in nature. Thanks everyone for your well wishes and prayers. I beat this once and I can beat it again!!!
