Going from Dx to FX

If I was mainly doing wildlife, I'd get a D7200 instead of going FX. You could have a wide angle on one and the Tamzooka on the other. I don't see what more the Fx format would bring you except maybe 1 stop extra light but at the loss of 1,5 crop factor...

This..Except now that the D400 may be coming into the picture, I would wait and see what happens with that. (If I was shooting mainly wildlife of course). I terribly miss my D7100 now for BIF shots since I bought the D750.

Having said i was finished with long lenses so i wouldn't miss DX i again prove you should never say never :D,i did say at the time though i got more trade in for my D7100 than i would have to pay for a new gray one.

An alleged D400 will only mess things up. We've all gotten used to the layout of the D7xxx/D6xxx/D750 bodies. Unless you're using a D300 or a D800/D4, why would you want to change the layout of where things are? I've just bought a 200-500 and I'l check it out on my D7000 as well as my D750. Chances are, I'll have to buy a 24mp DX body at some point, but it won't be a D400 because I want to keep all my bodies somewhat the same. But, as long as Nikon can keep selling me lenses, they can sell D400s to whoever.......

Still getting the Siggy C lens as soon as I pay off a few things that I bought. Mainly the 24-120 and Dolly. Maybe I'll sell the 20mm f/2.8 and a few other things I don't use much.

I briefly had a D7100 and a D300 at the same time. 2 different layouts. I had no problems going from one to the other at all. Besides, if I did have a D400 along with a D750, I would mainly use the D400 for BIF or moving stuff ,so I would have it setup for shutter priority with auto ISO and saved in a user bank anyhow.

Yes i think you sum it up,if you have FX then DX would be bought for a specific use and could be set up and left at that.

Get the 200-500 for the D750 and then compare the two for IQ wide open. I bet the D750 with 200-500 at 500 wide open will be sharper, especially at higher ISO.

Here's an interesting read on DPreview that pretty well sums up my take on the "FX upgrade". It's a lengthy article but gives mostly the pros & cons of committing to the ultimate upgrade.

Here is the link.

I think the 200-500 is going to be sharper than the 150-600 on either body regardless. The final image will still have to be cropped after coming off the D750 if you want similar composition to what the D7100 sees.

I have the D7100 (for sale now) as I upgraded to a D610. Low light is a huge improvement now with the D610 and noise at higher ISO improved as well. I use a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 mostly, as well I have the f2.8 24-70mm Tamron...both lenses I used on my D7100 too and another huge difference is the zoom-in range dropped significantly, obviously because of the new un-cropped sensor. Bummer shooting sports from far away but I can crop way in and still much better photos overall.
I actually wanted the D750 instead but cost was a factor and used bodies are still mostly non-existent. I'm still very happy with my D610 as button placement is almost a carbon copy of the D7100.

I can't really imagine not having both Full frame and crop.....

(D400 please Nikon please!)
