one last thing...since its hard to keep my mouth shut. MY WHOLE POINT is, when you offer a photo up for CRITIQUE its usually because you want to know, what you can do to make it BETTER. When told what can make it better, they DONT LIKE IT and make excuses. so why bother posting it for CRITIQUE in the first place? If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen right? There are PLENTY of other sections to share the work, if you simply just want to SHARE IT. I am not the most critical person here, i am one of the most HONEST. I call it like I see it, for 1 purpose ONLY. To help people GROW! If they constantly get praised for OK photos, that is all they will every post, they will never IMPROVE! It's OK to like something, as I originally stated, I liked the capture. But elaborated on what I saw wrong. If you do LIKE or even LOVE someones photo, tell them WHY you feel that way.

Full frame does not make me better. People being HONEST with me over the years has made me better. And before you ask what I got, take a look at your own gallery eye level.

Joe's critiques have merit based on technical execution. Others are commenting on artistic. Both are valuable for a critique but have to balance for a great image.

My take is that it is amazing to have been in the right place at the right time to capture the image. It is a beautiful sight. The image could have been technically better captured via a combination of technique and equipment.

When I first looked at the photo, I thought!!! Wow that looks like a still from the Harry Potter movies almost.. its dark and mystical!!! Sure a lot of things could be changed. However, I couldnt get that shot if I tried!!!

Lets please all be nice to each other, and critique each other politely constructively and politely, instead of tearing each other down for our opinions be they artistic or technical!!! When I first started this forum people were so nice, now I just see a lot of negativity and cutting people down and immature banter...I hate getting on here and seeing all of the negative comments and bickering...

Lets just have a good time!!!

whatever. This site has become a joke. Nothing but dillusional people who feed others lines of crap praising mediocre images, meanwhile the person taking those pictures never grows and continues to post mediocre images because people here tell them "it's ok, its all about what looks good to YOU". I'm done.

I may be "dillusional", but why does constructive criticism have to be condenscending? You can offer a negative opinion without baiting an argument, or putting down the comments of others. I don't mind someone not liking my work, yet I still value their opinion.

I see very little perfect work in the critique forum, from the self prescribed pros (and somewhat dillusional) or my own. We post it here to get others perspectives and hope to improve, it has helped me. Perhaps that is not the purpose, yet we are told the general forum is not for random shots either. We can start our own threads, however we will get little CC there.

If the Critique forum is reserved only for perfection or those who think they are "pros", it won't be very active or interesting.

Lots of negativity here lately, very dissapointing.

I was just thinking about what it would take for me to replicate this photo with my gear...I'd need a Noct Nikkor wide open at 250 with 1600 ASA film...and I would have to be a lot closer to the subject...

I now see why you were so enthusiastic about this photograph S. That is impressive low light performance...by any measure.
