You'll never get everyone to agree on whether or not to add frames. I quite like frames but when I started posting here it was suggested I drop the frames, so I no longer bother. I say....just go with what YOU like the look of because there will always be others who also love the frames and those that hate them :D

I personally think on the web pages it is nice to have the drop shadow as to me it draws the eyes to the image more... especially when there is text near an image. BUT if I were printing them out, no borders for me... I would take care of that in framing/mounting.

The right framing can add to an image and highlight the subject in much the same as using blurred background or other photography techniques. It helps the viewer see what you see.

I must have been confused Michael. If this about framing just for posting to this site then I do not feel that it is necessary.

No it is for Facebook as well. But I think I will do the old style, just a photo without a frame or shadow. Why? Because I am not satisfied with the results and I think I was experimenting a lot with different settings of framing. This means I am not sure it will do for me. So I dropped it. The photos I posted were done before I decided to drop it.

Life goes on as usual for me

Thanks guys for your inputs.

Just to clarify, I think what you are doing with the frames will give you a good sense of how you may chose to eventually display some of your photos. In that sense, it is good tool and I might look into a program that would allow me to review some of my framing options in advance of actually doing the work. What program are using to get these effects?

I also like the way Don Kuykendall does his drop shadow framing. I would do it as well, but I'm a working man and have no time to do retired people stuff.;)

Yes much better. Maybe even a slightly larger border. But that looks good and adds to the photo but not pull attention away from that beautiful child.
I like this one also. Just enough to separate the image from the white background, but not so much that it distracts.

I like the look, I'm just too lazy :)
