HAZARDS OF OUTDOOR FOOD SHOTS ILLUSTRATED

Thinking that the light would be better on the back patio, I set up for my first ever food shot. This will be a snap, I thought.

Well, too bright. Too much shadow. Height wrong for taking picture. Wrong lens. Settings on Camera wouldn't cooperate. Glare from the Sun. And, then the protein landed. That did it. No cooperation from the protein supplement. None.

This will be my only food shot, period. Make a note of that. You won't see another one. Ever.

I ended up with a very crummy capture.

It gets worse.

Then I read the ingredients on the back of the little plastic package that contained the bread remnants I tried to photograph.(Had to use sissors to open, couldn't tear it apart...) They are listed below the picture. You probably will be better off not reading them.

Taken at Einstein Bros Bagels in the Riverside area of Jacksonville, FL. It's how my day begins almost everyday!

I have got a new paying gig lined up and wanted to lay a test on you guys here at the forum, I have a local restaurant that is revamping thier menu and they need new pictures so I landed the gig. I am cramming to learn everything I can about food photography so I can impress the client and hopefully line some other ones up as well. Well anyway here is the sample shot that I am going to show them and let them know that I will be done in about a week. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Was shot with D600 and Nikon 85mm f1.8
Thanks
Jeremy V.
