Lovin' this thread! Food is one of my favorite subjects to photograph and I have yet to attack any with my Nikon! I have taken many shots with my iPhone. LOL! Not the best quality of photograph but the food is still amazing.....
Amazing paella from a local Latin joint, I really need to get my D3100 out to some restaurants with me as this iPhone shot doesn't do it justice.

Me too, Bill! Heck, the thread inspired me to get up and start posting crappy food pictures I took months ago with my iPhone at a restaurant that I wish I could go back to with my real camera! LOL! Now I am just going to want to carry the 3100 all the time to take pictures of what I eat. My Facebook posts from the iPhone already drive my hubby crazy, what will he say when I start whipping out the D3100 in the middle of an 8 course meal?

The only reason I posted these was because there was twice earlier in the thread where others posted non-Nikon photos. Thought maybe I could get some composition suggestions if nothing else. Excuse the hell outta me for not having been born holding a nice camera! Had it for all of a month, thought the whole point here was to learn but apparently not......

He wasn't trying to be mean. But just trying to limit photos posted by other brands of cameras to help keep the forum Nikon based. Keeping it Nikon based is one of the things that help bring in members. A multi-brand site does well for general photography, but it is hard to find help for brand related issues and techniques.

People will look at you funny, sometimes...But it's not a big deal. You can get a lot of good shots of food without even using a flash in a lot of restaurants (as long as you have a fast lens - f/2.8 or better or a camera that can handle decent ISO).

Went on a mini-vacation over the weekend. Here is a "beer bread sandwich" from Bulls Head Public House in Lititz, PA.
Tasty looking shot my friend! But now I have to go find something to eat, since it made me hungry! Lol
Thanks! I think I should crop a little, was trying for the pizza, beer, and a little of the art on the menu all at the same time and it's a little busy.
Also, just realized that it says sent from my iPhone. Lest I again be chastised for being off topic this was taken with my Nikon D3100, 18mm, ISO 720, f/3.5 and shutter speed 1/60. I was playing with manual settings and shooting on auto so I'm not sure which this one ended up being. Anyway, just thought I would clarify!
