Despicable. I'm almost thinking of just shutting down my page. This is one of the many reasons why I prefer Google +.

If you insist on keeping your own work on Facebook ONLY ONLY ONLY post your pics at a low resolution with a watermark for your own good.

Yes, I agree 100%. You should only post low resolution images to your facebook account that also contain your watermark. While that will do nothing towards keeping your images safe, it will limit what others can do with your images.
Facebook is now a behemoth and can bully its way through any change in privacy rules and people will just have to accept it. Because you cannot sustain a business like a photo business without a presence on FB and all the other "social media"s out there. So like the ol' college days, bend over and scream "Thank you Sir, may I have another!!"

When you use a "free" service, there is always some trade off. Facebook is a powerful tool and I, for one, am happy to use it. BUT, I do not post photos unless I don't care where they end up. . . I consider that as "payment" for FB's services (lol). I post my photos (and writing) to a blog and then post the link to facebook.

Might start doing just that. I hear there are a few good free website makers out there.
