Thank you, in the fall I plan on visiting all of them. There are 17 in Ashtabula County alone.
Day 52 of 365-2015;
Not really sure I can explain this, I wanted to get a night shot of the Light House and this blue affect happened on one of my shots while using the flash. I did a little bit of clean up post processing but all in all this is the affect I got, all the others had a plan black back ground.

I think maybe you should have used longer shutter eg 20sec and put your ISO way down to 100 or 400. That way you get the dark sky, more warmth from the lights and some stars. Your White balance might also have influenced the result.
I haven't done many night shots myself, but most tutorials I've read go long exposure. They say up to 30sec if you want pinpoint stars. Any longer and you start to get trails. If there were NO stars, maybe blanket cloud cover) you could just go as long as you like.
It's a nice shot anyway. Maybe not quite what you were after but if you hadn't told us we'd never know and just think it's a good shot anyway

Thank you for the advice, It was cloudy so I knew I wasn't going to get any stars, I was just trying to see if I could get some lighting effects from the surrounding lights and some clouds overhead. I was really more pleased with this affect then what I was looking for plus I was getting cold so I didn't stay long. I will try again when its a little warmer.
Jeez yeah, it must be freezing out there at night ATM
That shot would be a good one to enter in the weekly assignment "blue" this week
