Yes, these are from the University of Alabama Campus except for the white building and it is a historical insane asylum that is still a mental hospital.

Don, sorry for your loss... I lost my dad in 2003 and hardly a day goes by that I do not think of him...

Woods Hall was the first new building on campus following the Civil War. Constructed from 1867 to 1868, the four-story brick structure was built with aGothic Revival arcade on the ground floor, end facades in the Gothic Revival style with a crenelated roof, and cast iron galleries on the central upper floors. Initially known simply as "the barracks," it was used as a dormitory. It also had a dining hall and classrooms on the ground floor. It remained a dormitory until 1961, when it was converted for use by the Department of Art and Art History

Glad you posted this. This was supposed to be in the D7000 thread.
My wife is using the D5100 now so I don't use it much at all. Also I am still learning the D7000 so I tend to pick it up more to use and practice with it.

I am going to have to go back and re-shoot this building. It is a building still under construction at the University of Alabama. It is the new engineering building. When they finish it it will be a 5 sided building with a central open area that is several acres big. I an in the center of the building shooting. There are still several open areas where they have not filled in yet.

here is an aerial of the building to show what I am dealing with. I think a plane is the only way to shoot it. it is going to be another year before they finish it from what I hear. Their is not supposed to be any open areas between the sections of the building when they finish.

We liked the distressed look also. We are not "Formal" type people so we wanted a lived in comfortable look.
The photographs on the other hand have been fun to try and get right. Bounce flash with the SB700 and Nic tools to bring down the bright windows. The SB700 is so easy to use and change the bounce from vertical to horizontal. I almost bought the SB400 because of the price but I am sure glad I didn't.
